VA transfer to SQ 1.35:1 VA

What has this to do with VA pts -> SQ / SQ pts -> VA?

The subject of the thread?

This thread is weird. Let me see if i have gotten it straight.

VA and SQ announce a points transfer partnership that will commence in November.

The rate of exchange is not announced.

People assume the fact that it hasn't been announced means it hasn't been determined.

The fact it hasn't been determined proves VA is incompetent.

People assume that "in November" means "on the first day of November."

The fact that it hasn't been implemented on the first day of November proves VA incompetent.

People who already think VA is incompetent pile in to show this is part of a pattern of incompetence.

Meanwhile we are still in November, with several weeks to spare, and there isn't any evidence (yet) that it won't happen exactly when SQ and VA said it would apart from the speculation in this thread.

Have i missed anything?

whomever released the statement to the press is the incompetent one .

yes thought I saw something ages ago. thanks for that
I would presume then that the tabloids got the info from there
anything from SQ at all i thought i saw something from their side.
maybe virgin will give us all 10.000 pts for anguish.

Maybe it works better if you put NOVEMBER in ALL CAPS and provide a link to this handy reference chart:

November 2014 Calendar Printable - Wallpapers and Images | Wallpapers and Images

Sounds like they have a further 19 days to implement the conversion and add SQ to the VFF booking engine. ;)

The new conversion capability will be available to members of both programmes from November as well as an improved online booking capability for Velocity Frequent Flyers to redeem flights on Singapore Airlines and SilkAir.

Here's a thought. Instead of all the coughing and moaning, why doesn't someone contact VA and enquire what's going on. At worst they will be told we're not sure or it's still being worked on but we hope to have it ready to go by ....... Maybe even the VA Rep on here may be able to shed some light. Personally I would have thought it would have started at the beginning of November like most of you but hey first world problems right??

You're making sense. Go sit in the corner for a while :p

... The end of November?

Look we are all keen to know more but the key point is that we already have the date. It hasn't happened yet. Until it does or doesn't this is all our own self referential speculation.

I will watch this thread while I am in the US (thanks to Singapore Airlines).

The bit about me having the s**ts in general with VA for canning direct MEL-LAX flts. ...
Fair enough - but while I can continue to get pointy end rewards trans Pacific from 94000 points and $50 / $135, I don't mind a BNE/SYD connection. (Shame the USA have introduced a departure tax)

That was my point. "by November" is very subjective - is it by the start or by the end? Who knows (only Virgin & Singapore) so lets all settle down and have a refreshing drink!!

BY November is indeed confusing.

But they didn't say that.

Ok they said in November. In November/by November they are both confusing. Any how as Rodney Rude would say "who gives a rat's cough?? We find out when we find out as it's all out of our control. I need a beverage or 3 after all this!!!

Actually I just saw the Singapore news release and they definitely say from November (as per below). Virgin releases I've seen have said in November.

"The new conversion capability will be available to members of both programmes from November as well as an improved online booking capability for Velocity Frequent Flyers to redeem flights on Singapore Airlines and SilkAir."
