Yup - pulled before it even started. AY concentrating on India with many more flights (DEL and BOM). No more AY longhaul tag legs, all flights will be nonstop.
The tag-on sectors were never of interest to me. But KUL from Europe was of interest. Currently KUL is always included on my DONE4 itineraries, and that means routing through HKG with CX. Now while that is not a bad option, a HEL-KUL option would have been attractive for me.

Indeed, and the ability to easily cut out a London transfer/stopover (= lots of taxes from next week) an added bonus.

Still you can get to/from KUL without going via HKG by taking separate ticket BKK-KUL or SIN-KUL vv.

Not on a DONE4 ticket, I can't.

I have done the extra ticket using MH SIN-KUL-SIN on a few occasions. An F ticket is cheap and gets you lounge access at both ends and priority immigration at KUL both inbound and outbound. I normally do that for trips to KL that are not part of DONE4 ticket.

But my preferred DONE4 routing is SWP-Europe-NA-Asia-SWP. So the NA-Asia is usually LAX-HKG-KUL and then the home journey is KUL-HKG-BNE/SYD/MEL. So KUL-HEL would not have been on that one anyway. Just would have opened up some more options. Oh well, I don't plan on using their India-HEL routings.

I would be interested in seeing their schedule for BOM. If it connects with QF then that is another way to europe that may be easier on availability (and presumably eligible for the AY/QF special fares).

I am going to US in a couple of months and was looking at YUP fares. Have just been doing some dummy bookings on AA website. I have selected first class with restrictions and the itinerary shows booking class as P. I assume that this is what I should be looking for??
Yup, P as per the QFF Airline earning table: Frequent Flyer - About the Program - Terms & Conditions

Code:
American GLMNSV Discount Economy 0.5 -
Airlines® (AA) BHKY Economy 1 -
                   DIJ Business 1 25%
                   AFP First 1 50%

Just be aware that if you need to change flights at late notice, there is no First available and you can't wait for the next flight with First availability, you run the risk of being booked into Y class with Y SC/Point earning's.

SWP - Swakopmund, Namibia? Who do you usually use to book flights from SWP? What's the pricing like from there?

My mistake. I figured people we're buying AONE* tickets out of Mauritus (MRU), so I figured why not Namibia.

Hi,

I'm looking at doing a SC run or two before the end of Feb (I have the double SC's offer at the moment, expires end of Feb)

I'm going to be flying ex BNE, and i'm just looking for the best value run to do.
I was thinking of doing BNE ADL via MEL, for 184 (Total 368 for 100SC's, $3.68/SC). Does anyone know of any better runs to do than this? I've had a look around, I can't seem to come up with any...

Thanks for your help!

Josh

Whats the double SC offer ? I need a few SC but not that much of a rush.

That thats far cheaper than any other domestic fair for SC potential, only some of the internations small hops come close.

How many SC's are you after?

Qantas had a special offer for some of their FF'ers. Double SC's for all flights within a certain timeframe.

Not transferable, nor is it available to anyone except those Qantas selected for the offer...

I'll be about 100-150 short of Gold before the end of the year, depends on how much flying I do between now and then. The year started off good - by end of Feb i'll have 360 SC's, will do another 200SC in flights before year end, but i'm not 100% sure how it'll all work out.

I've been thinking about getting a QP membership, (685), but i'd rather just do $650 of status runs and get the points that way. I could do the BNE->ADL trip twice for $740 (and get 200SC's) - I'd much rather pay that and get the flights rather than give the money straight to QF.

I also read somewhere that you could buy an extra seat on the plane, and get the SC and points for the seat, but not pay the taxes. I think I might investigate this option as well....

some tips:

The "fuel fines" debacle means that red-e-deal type fares aren't always the best for earning cheap SC's.

Have a look at Flexi-Saver and/or cheap business fares as they can at some times give better value than the sale/super saver type fares.

Choosing a 2 flight trip is a great idea. This often brings down the cost per SC.

My favourite Qantas trip currently has a cost price of ~$6.50/ SC (or $3.25 in your case). It's way too many SC's for your purposes though (well over 300 if on the special Qantas double up scheme).

Actually I have worked out a way to get you where you want to be. ~200 SC (on the double up offer for around $3.50 / SC).

Expect a PM...
