The obvious question is where did the rumour come from?

An Air NZ gold member told me that this happened to him. He also lives in NZ. He may be yanking my chain, or it could have been an error.

Time will tell.

The other possibility is that he is telling the truth but that it is a one off.
 
Well I applied 3 weeks ago now and haven't been matched.

I wonder if they are holding the fact that they already matched me Gold last year and now don't see any point matching my Plat status?

No that is not a factor, they have comped me platinum now.
 
Okay booked and have now flown my first VA/DJ flight since status matched Mel to Brisbane last night.

Used the Melbourne lounge which seemed very good, not packed and I really liked to lighting and different work spaces. Special security lane was good to use not that anyone checked if I was entitled, looks like the honor system at play. The priority boarding lane works extremely well, can't believe QANTAS can't implement something like this immediately.

I was allocated a seat in row 5 moved to row 3, lots of leg space. Loved the design of the plane and how VA separate Y+/bus front two seats plus the light dimming for take off and landing (slowly dropping the light). I knew in advance about buying food/drinks on the plane. At least that makes the product more substantial even though I didn't buy.

It was unfortunate the plane was delayed by 50-60 minutes on my first flight but that can happen anytime as long as it's the exception I'm happy. So overall a very pleasant start and I can definitely see more bookings going to VA, especially since I have now re-qualified for QF Gold. The big question of whether I can re-qualified with both VA and QF at gold comes later. Great to see the competition. Even if QF members don’t' move they will still probably benefit

One question which I can't find the answer for, how long does it take for VA/DJ flights to post to Velocity. I'm used to them posting to QF account within hours and my flight from yesterday still hasn't posted almost 20 hours later.

two days after the flight around 10 EST.

Seems you and I have something in common (both recently renewed QF Gold and wondering whether we can keep both at Gold).

I like that VA are making it it hard. Choice can be a great thing.

VFF may be running out of applications rather than running out of time. Requested status match to QF WP thursday night, received it lunchtime today.:D

Hmmm, status credits 0, no DJ flights since Dec 10. Feels strange. Guess I better try flying with them...

I am at Adelaide Lounge right now. I just saw someone in business suits sitting opposite me getting a status match, and I saw his Chairmans Lounge card ....... Maybe even CL members gets frustrated by QF treatment these days?!

I think there might be some including myself - that might disagree with you there :) - they definitely have not run out - mines still kicking about somewhere 3.5 weeks on. Disappointing to hear that they are still processing those that have not flown, for a long time, if at all, so quickly when there clearly an issue that needs to be addressed from earlier on in the match, where some VA faithfuls have been left without being matched.

Having said that - All credit to the VA rep on here who has contacted me to see if there is any issue - so hopefully it will be resolved in the next day or so. Failing that I could stage a sit in a BNE lounge this Friday - hey there are definitely worst places :)

Partner and I are at 3.5 weeks without a word apart from the instant email acknowledgement. Does seem all over the place but they did say 4 weeks. I am wondering what we do at 4 weeks.

I think adequate compensation for the pain and suffering* I will endure if it takes more than 4 weeks will be needed. I'm thinking upgrading my gold status match to platinum may be sufficient :mrgreen:

What was the time diference for people who were status matched to Gold and then recieving their packs?

Don't know about Gold but I was status matched Platinum on Aug 30 and received my pack only yesterday which is 20 days.

I applied early with documentation, heard nothing, phoned VA last week and told to wait, emailed VA with no response, contacted VA rep here last week and have heard nothing. I thought they were looking for new business.

I applied 25 August, got my platinum packet in the mail today.

I'm a 25th August vintage myself. Am thinking stuff them. VA is either disorganised or disorganised and even worse disorganised. Lots of travel planned. Disappointed that lack of communication.

Will spend money elsewhere.

And the 25th was the start of things, before the avalanche!
 
As an update: we have received a large number of Status Match applications. As you would appreciate, these take a great deal of time to process. We have added overtime staff over this past weekend to increase the number processed applications and many of you would have been upgraded as a result of this.

In terms of prioritisation, we do prioritise based on both tier and date.

It's just not happening. Same with response to customer enquiry via any method. I suspect it's an omen on what can be expected.

I was really looking for an alternative to QF.
