Is it August 26th, pm that's a problem?? Still, the 4 weeks are not quite up...

As you say, still 1 week to go, and the test of VA's customer service will be how they rectify those that they have failed to match in the timeframe if it comes to that, however I doubt it will since they would be in breach of what was advertised.

That's odd. I was Status Matched in only a few days this week and so was a friend of mine. I applied last Monday, he applied last Tuesday and now we're both DL Plat.
No confirmation email yet but it shows as Platinum on my Velocity account. I had an existing account if that makes any difference.
 
I presume that they realised there was a problem with ones sent through near the beginning (bell curve sounds right - the second and third days would have had significantly more emails until it plateaued and tailed off in later days).

My gut feeling is that they changed the process after learning from their initial issues, therefore later ones have been more streamlined.

Are the 26th PM emails logjammed in the fulfillment area?
Did some fall through the cracks because of the sheer volume of emails?
Do the different ways (email, Lounge and Westfield booths) create their own inherent issues when trying to merge them into the process back at HQ?

I certainly hope they meet their promise, as I am sure they are aware how much brand damage is done by overpromising and underdelivering. Particularly when it appears at the moment that only the tip of the iceberg (in numbers) have received absolute confirmation of their status match (whether by logging on or receiving the email).

It is disappointing for those members who haven't received anything yet ones afterwards have - they must have slipped through the cracks or the stated advice that they are processing by date (and within by status).

My app went in 26th Aug, Velocity Plat email confirmation received 4th Sep. I didnt realise you can get velocity points for IHG hotel stays so have submitted claims for all the ones I've done in last 3 months - could be an interesting crack at a double dip?

If by double dip you mean the stays have already been creditted to some other program, pretty unlikely they will give points again.
 
Applied for Match to Plat Aug 26th - no emails received but logged onlast week and saw it had come through.
Sent one in for my wife Aug 29th, match to Gold. Again no emails, but when logged on it also shows as being processed and she is now Gold - hers has come through before mine, but she was a Velocity member and I wasn't previously - maybe that makes a difference?

You have full access. That pass is for extra visitors or I presume that there is a mechanism to give it to someone else, similar to a QF lounge pass.

You're reading that wrong. You have lounge access, and one lounge pass for when that expires, or if you want to bring in extra guests.
 
The links to the status match have disappeared from the Virgin site. I realised only this morning that the other half was still QFF Silver after having been downgraded from PG (thought she had gone back to NB). I sent an application anyway using link in the first post of this thread and received an automated reply stating receipt and that it would be processed. So here's hoping it is not too late.

Suggest that anyone who has been tardy get one off immediately.

Hmm, I just saw the ad in the middle of the VA main screen - the ad rotates every ~5 seconds (it's after the limo service ad). There are also ads on AFF...and the click through link is still working from the ad.

Think you have jumped the gun a little with this rsellens - they mustn't have met their target yet ;)
 
Apologies to everybody. Checked the Virgin Australia site a few times and also V Australia and Velocity sites. Missed it each time on the Virgin Australia site and it isn't on the Velocity site.:oops::oops::oops::oops:

Hmm, I submitted on 31 August and still nothing. My partner submitted on 13 September and has already been upgraded to gold ! We are both QF gold. But is there a problem that my QF LT Gold card does not clearly show the expiry date ....

2. To be eligible for the Promotion the applicant must ......copy of their frequent flyer membership card (or most recent monthly statement) that clearly shows their current elite status level and expiry date .
 
Log onto the Virgin site frequent flyer, you may find your status has been upgraded and not recieved an email - this was my experience.

No I checked, after my partner noticed the new status after logging in.
 
A friend of mine was status matched to Silver last week. Then he flew biz class to LAX on QF which got him a Gold status. He then re applied on Friday and tonight when he logged in to Velocity he was at Gold status. He says he will now move all his flights to DJ. Another customer lost for QF.
 
I've heard a rumour that Velocity will match status with Air NZ. I know this is explicitly ruled out in the status match terms & conditions, but I just wanted to check. I received a status match to Gold based on my Emirates Gold membership, but I'd much rather receive a status match to Platinum based on my Air NZ Gold elite status!

The obvious question is where did the rumour come from?

I would be very surprised if this did happen.
