I did it all at the airport and had a interim card issued within a few minutes.

It was so easy.

I have now done 3 DJ flights in my whole life and I am plat.

It's just not happening. Same with response to customer enquiry via any method. I suspect it's an omen on what can be expected.

I was really looking for an alternative to QF.
What has 'just not happened'?
They said up to four weeks and by my calendar they still have time left. (though not much)

It still appears to be going with no end date stated. I'm tossing up whether to apply as a SG or wait until mid next month when I hit WP for the first time. Of course it may expire in that time and are the benefits of Platinum that much better anyway?

I'd apply now, get Gold and then if still open apply again to get WP.

+1. Better to get something now than nothing later - who is to say they are going to re-introduce status matches later?

Done. Makes sense.

But what incentive is there to fly DJ now that I don't have to fly with them to get to Gold?

I guess there's no 'disincentive' in that I assume I get access to "Da Lounge" and some seating preference?
Will see. I do a lot of SYD-BNE-TSV and occasionally wouldn't mind a direct flight that isn't JQ. Of course that route with QF is what has got me to SG and now WP (with a bit of help from JASAs and other routes).

Well my Velocity page has just ticked over to gold.My request went in 0440 on 26th so took 26 days.just 20 days longer than for mrsdrron whose request went in at the same time.

After a month of waiting, some phone calls, emails, PMs, resubmitting application, I've struck Gold.

I now have two new drink coasters in the shape of QF RFID tags.

EK gold is not virgin plat

hi - have EK gold - highest level attainable on emirates...explained this carefully to virgin- they only gave me velocity gold- declined platinum....any one else have this happen??

It makes sense - like for like, EK Gold is approximately equivalent to VA Gold. Until very recently, Gold was top-tier for VA as well.

Guess you have something to aim for now :p

Coming up to four weeks today. No change on my account status, no e-mail, no PMs from Velocity Frequent Flyer.

The real surprise was when we found no auto-response to the original request [from Mrs TheMaiz].

Mrs TheMaiz resubmitted, got an autoresponse very shortly after the submission, and her VA account now shows the SG match. That process only took a few days.

Could it be that some of the delays reported here are submissions which got lost between the applicant and VA? If you didn't get a confirmation email, it would be worth resubmitting.

Now 23 days since my application with no change to status or communication from Velocity. I'm wondering if I might be better off visiting the lounge at CBR and doing the status match there.

Submitted for the She Who Must Be Obeyed on Monday. Account shows Silver match this morning.

Success. My Asiana Diamond has been matched to Velocity Gold.
Hopefully by the time it expires they'll have at least announced when they'll be joining *A. ;)
