I don't think any of the email ones have been processed as yet, certainly mine which was done Thursday AM hasn't been processed to my new Velocity account yet. Would have been better (quicker, have new temp card etc) to get it done at the airport, but wasn't appropriate for me on Thursday. I'll just have to sit and wait :o

The toaster was there on Saturday, and I promise it wasn't me that burnt it out!

Likely story.

Learned about a few interesting non disclosed VA WP benefits. Lips sealed unless you return the sandwich toaster.

Real coffee, good Shiraz, delicious snacks, excellent internet, beautiful lounge and Service, Service, Service with a real smile. :D

Love the high back chairs by the window overlooking the aircraft.

I do the simultaneous coffee and red thing too. People often seem to think it a bit odd.

Spill the beans on the non-disclosed WP benefits please.

Seems the VA lounge angels at the service desk can and will do just about anything for a VA WP, especially for a VA WP who was a VA Gold, including op ups if there is a better seat in a higher class available on that flight.

I arrived from Bkk at 10:00 and went to the QF J lounge to see if I could get on an earlier flight to Adl. Yes Sir we can do that I was told. Will you pay for the change fee and any seat price difference with cash or points Sir? Well QF, that was my last domestic flight on QF as long as I can get a VA flight instead.

The VA service desk allows WPs to change to an earlier flight at no cost (disclosed benefit) and to get a opup to the best available seat on the aircraft (non disclosed benefit).

I've never been told that when changing a flight, including an award flight! I've always been moved if I have asked.

The toaster does look good on my kitchen bench! lol!

Yes I could move, but had to pay a change fee and any price difference between the Red-E Deal booked seat and the seat on the changed flight. I have never had a no cost change except on Christmas day when arriving at Syd from Lax. Was told QF was waving any change / seat fees to earlier domestic flights.

I run into this all the time when returning from Bkk on JQ30 as I always book the 14:10 flight to Adl to insure against any late arrival issues, none in 12 months, would not result in me missing the flight. I have tried to alter the flight via the WP desk, the J lounge and the web site. Always the same result, pay the change fee and any seat cost difference.

With VA that issue is now gone.

Sorry should have added, never had to pay... I think that isn't a good way to look after top tier members. Another thing for the fix list.

My award flight that I changed in PER a few months back was met with, "we aren't supposed to change award flights, but we like to look after our platinums so I can move your flight".

That is one of the problems with unpublished benefits. They may not achieve universal enactment. I mean just look at the QF Domestic Priority Boarding (DPB) mess.

Anyway VA has fixed it as a published VA WP benefit and fixed it the way it should be fixed. Well done VA.

Thats the trouble in all service industries, not just airlines. Years ago, they would just change the damn thing, rather than go into the spiel, "I shouldn't do this" blah blah blah then change the bloody thing anyway. It really annoys me when I am a customer, and get treated like I have done something wrong by asking for a bit of "Good old fashioned SERVICE"

That is what I like about VA. I see them making a very determined, transparent and professional effort to put real Service back into the Oz domestic airline industry.

VA Mel Tea Pot. Beautiful.

And when you need to catch a few Zzzzs:

They are very comfortable and away from the windows for a purrfect snooze. Even the QF F lounge does not provide this.

Agree with you 100%. They really are getting their stuff together.
Also, saw a teapot in BNE this morning, didn't really click with me till you posted the pic

Its the many small things, that make a HUGE difference.

...and not to belabour the point, but how good is anytime access? :):p:cool:

even to the point that I just dropped in for a coffee in MEL DJ domestic before heading to the QF Intl CAVE.

Coffee. Shame that QF can't seem to employ baristas on more than a part-time basis!

There was ham, cheese and tomato, but no sandwich toaster on Saturday 9:55am - 10:45am at the MEL T3 lounge.

I missed QF 685 to Adl as I had set my watch 1 hour too early when I arrived from Bkk at 10:00. Went to the QF J lounge expecting to pay for the next flight to Adl. Found a different J lounge angle from the earlier dragon what wanted to charge me for a flight change to an earlier flight. This one understood what had happened and issued me a BP for the next flight to Adl at NO CHARGE. :D

Talk about a non linear delivery of non disclosed QF WP benefits. Anyway a good end to flying QF domestically.
