I was going to go and annoy keith009 in Melbourne but have applied on line in the end.

Can't get an early status match... no Lounge or Westfield in DRW....

Wish there was a way we could call up and request a quicker one via the phone due to upcoming travel.

If you look at it this was, VA only gets one chance to make a good first impression on me as a Platinum traveller.

If its just mediocre, i'll fly Jetstar to BNE and QF back like I normally do.

I dunno, I kinda like the early morning flights They don't judge me for my copius consumtion of Gin at that hour of the morning...

They look at me a little weird on the Midday QF flight to SYD when I ask for a double Gin, no ice.

Simsy85, I presume that you are going to do the status match on line then follow Keith009's instructions here to access Lounge etc. Seems to be the easiest way for us onliners to access.

Alternatively, if you flash your WP card you get a one-time access to The Lounge, as they want us in there to be able to compare the lounges.

Remember, VA just started the 'game change' a few months ago - they have come a long way, but still are working VERY hard - and as one can understand such a massive change is not instantaneous!

The new interiors (with J class) will not be totally rolled out on the 737s until the end of this year, after which the E190s will be refitted

I hope you give VA more than one go after they kindly gave you something others have to work very hard for

I had a MEL-SYD on QF last Monday afternoon and had an hour or so to kill so wandered over to the VA terminal, waltzed into the Lounge, flashed my DJ Gold card and apologetically said "I'm actually flying the other guys today but I understand that I can still come in and use the lounge?".

I was immediately greeted with - "Absolutely Mr DF, you are most welcome to come in and use the lounge"

The manner in which I was welcomed was genuine, warm and welcoming....... A most pleasant experience.

Whilst I do find good service still exists on QF from time to time, it seems to be the exception rather than the rule (CNS QP and young A380 crews come to mind).

VA - well done - was a great impression, I now have two new DJ bookings for the next week or so as a result. The Plat match is a bonus

Like moa99, I just noticed as I was booking a ticket that I've been given Platinum when I noticed the luggage options disappeared once I logged into my account. 69kg is a LOT of luggage.

I had scanned my EXP card and emailed it in on the day the status match opened.
