Velocity gone AWOL until Monday

I think awilcockson has the right idea - I doubt this is the final product we are seeing chill guys

A couple of changes that I've noticed:

• You can now assign a seat preference (only window/aisle at this stage), which will be drawn upon from November.
• Your rolling status credits are still shown on the main page under "Status Credit balance"
• New "My Benefits" tab, although it currently only shows a yes/no for lounge membership, and any lounge passes you may have

All is well with world, and I can acces my account, and it is just fine. Rolling status credits, 4 sectors from 25 August (no problems)' still missing 2flights, but they will be in within the next day or so.

I know everyone is waiting with bated breath for the next round of changes, but I am a little surprised to see the level of emotion displayed about the changes, and I think possibly disappointment that Platinum is not yet here. But Virgin didn't promise that for this weekend, and they have delivered what they have prmised so far ( at least in relation to Velocity).

I am not sure if being the Virgin rep on this site would provide a laugh a minute at the sometimes OTT reactions, or frustration that no matter what they do it will never be good enough for even some of their most loyal, who seem to sit ready to attack like mongrel dogs!

Me .... I am enjoying the suspense! It's a little like Christmas, just around the corner!

Has anyone noticed any other changes?

The rewards search and the points calculator seem to be populated with some more destinations...... EG - Barbados, Chile, Maldives, Morrocco, Mexico etc.... With you able to sort for Points + pay and All inclusive...... Many of the destinations show as "Not available" but I assume it wont be long....

This was actually added a few weeks ago - although I'd like to see the option of Forward Aisle as well. In fact I'd really like to see an option for "3C" or "3D" to be honest!

G'day all,
Please forgive my wishful thinking and/or putting two and two together to make 11, but I think we are close to an annoucement of some sort - not necessarily Velocity related...

The clues as I see them:

• We are due a Full Year Results presentation from VA. There was a half year results pres on 23/2/11 (new uniform launch), 2010 full year was on 26/8/10, and 2010 half-year was on 24/2/10 (Announcements - Search results - Australian Securities Exchange - ASX) It all fits...
• Yesterday the Velocity website said that the eligible flights component would start on 25th Aug '12... that date reference has now been removed. Could that point to a year after a product relaunch/revamp?
• The back-of-house work that was done on the Velocity site over the weekend signifies something is on the way as the VA rep on here said... why do it months in advance increasing the risk of leaks etc.
• Earlier in the year there was speculation that 24/8 could be The Big Day - with plenty of logic (if no hard facts) behind the gossip.
• I spoke to a Lounge Angel this morning who gave me nothing, but 'shiftily' fabricated something along the oft heard line of "later in the year". She knew plenty she wasn't giving away.
• Finally, didn't a VA rep at the BNE Lounge opening say we were weeks not months away... when was that...? It feels like a good few weeks ago.

I reckon the first point is the most relevant... whether we get anything Velocity related is of course a nother matter!

Here's hoping that Wednesday holds exciting things for us all!

I have been told by two people that the Platinum launch will happen at the AGM, which sadly is not until late November. I hope they are wrong but unfortunately I think not.

I've also heard a platinum announcement won't happen until late this year. Certainly not this week.

The VA Rep on here confirmed 'later in the year' as well and that these changes were not co-inciding with a pending announcement (although of course we're all dead keen to see what they'll offer us all).

I had the same yesterday when making a booking or 2. I couldn't login as part of the booking process but I could login immediately after making the booking. Something with the booking engine?

Had same issue yesterday, the booking engine wasnt talking to velocity but both were working independently.
