Velocity Points Expired - no warning! [In contravention of T&C's]

I have 300K VA points and am safe from the VA sneaky thiefs.

But will start investigation KF. Whats a good CC?

I use:
Priceline AMEX for Masters (2/$), ALH (2/$), Supermarkets (3/$), Fuel (2/$) and Dans (2/$). All good point earns (pity about Masters situation) and the ability to warehouse in AMEX MR.
Velocity Plat AMEX for VA (3/$), Hilton (2/$) and Restaurants (3/$), also good earn.
NAB Velocity AMEX for QF, taxis, duty free and any AMEX purchases except those listed previously and that returns (1.5/$).
JQ Plat M/Card for JQ (no card fee), hire cars (good excess reduction insurance), and any non-amex purchses and returns (1/$)

I'm now obviously on the lookout for good cards to use either the MR warehouse rather than VA and for QF. The JQ has recently been restricted in the 1/$ to about $1500 a month (or something similar) so hopefully I can tie in warehousing ability with good visa/mcard earn.

FYI, your Velocity Plat Amex pays 2/$ on airlines, including QF.

My families VFF point totals:
Daughter - 0
Daughter - 0
Son - 0
Wife - 0
Me - 0

I'm not sure if it's a good move or not (VFF will probably now bring out a point burn promo just to spite me), but being honest, I worry about the direction VA/VFF is heading. On the brighter side, my KF points tally is now looking quite healthy, to the tune of a couple of return EU suites!

A little OT, just don't forget that you can't transfer miles between accounts with KF, and you need to specifically nominate family members in order to be able to use your miles for them (if you are not a traveller in the same booking).

If you need some help finding some seats to suite... err, I mean, suit... your newly increased balances, let me know. ;)

I meant CC for KF points?. Of OT please post in appropriate thread

I think the insinuation is that points get transferred to KF as required.

I don't think there are any direct earn cards being offered to new applicants in Australia anymore. But a few cards do transfer to KF including Amex, ANZ and Westpac.

So an update.Already posted the response from Jack and Velocity frequent Flyer has also posted a reply up thread.
Have now heard from Andrea with basically exactly the same response-

Thank you for contacting us about your expired Points.
Im sorry that you remain disappointed however after further review our position remains unchanged.

The only possibility is if youve flown with Virgin Australia in the last 12 months or with a partner airline in the past six months and the flight activity hasnt been recorded (excluding activities from Family Pooling).

If you think that might apply to you, please send any supporting documentation to me and Ill do what I can to validate your claim.

Im sorry I cant do more for you. If you would like to refer to the Terms and Conditions of membership youll find them at www.velocityfrequentflyer.com.

So a couple of points(pun intended) about these replies.
First on 3 occasions no one has addressed the problem of no notice given.

Secondly note how Jack and Andrea don't even know their own program with Jack saying she needed activity in the last 24 months and Andrea in the last 12 months when by the T&Cs it is 36 months.

So in 1 week we will take our last Virgin flight. They have sent me an invitation to upgrade-MCY-SYD.Hmmm.Mrsdrron has also got the offer of being comped gold for 3 months. So What use is that now.
I was going to close our Velocity accounts but have decided to delay that decision with the choice being Flybuys points to VA or EY.

I assume the "in the last 12 months or with a partner airline in the past six months" relates to how long you have to claim missing flight credit.

So an update.
When we read of more cutbacks to come as they're still losing money, it's no wonder you received such a rubbish reply. This reeks of desperation at the highest corporate level. I cannot believe they are choosing to be arrogant, obstinate and stupid instead of simply realising they were caught out with their con and just offering the points back with a lame excuse of something like "this time we will, but.....". They must really be bleeding from the eyeballs to be so shallow.

I would be checking that the email address associated with the Velocity account is valid and that the email is not in a spam folder. Here is the text of the email received for a Velocity account that was to lose points at the end of October:

First was a picture of an alarm clock, followed by:
Act fast to save your Velocity Points

Your Velocity Points do not expire provided you remain an active member, which means earning or redeeming Points.

We have noticed that you have not had any eligible activity within your Velocity account and as a result your current Points balance of 1,299 will expire unless you earn or redeem Points by 31 October 2016*.

In line with recent program updates:

Points will not expire until 36 months after the date of your last eligible activity if performed prior to 1 June 2016
Points earned from 1 June 2016 will not expire until 24 months after your last eligible activity
Transferring Points between family members or receiving Points from a Family Pooling relationship are no longer considered eligible activity.
This was followed by "Some simple ways to save your Points by 31 October 2016" with links to various options.

This same email was received every month for the 3 months leading up to the end-date. For this account is was less than 1300 points at risk.

She certainly had nothing like that.the email address is valid as she does get other velocity emails.

I will say, in all my years of being a Velocity member, I simply do not get their emails.

I've check the address, checked spam but nope. Never once received their happy hour email as well. Total mystery.

So I receive SOME emails from Virgin, but Happy Hour emails - never had those !

NO - Definitely didn't get anything like that !

Time to lodge a complaint with Fair Trading Dept. May not do any good but companies do not like the bad reputation, especially now that NSW compile and publish a naughty list each month.

Too many complaints will not do them any good.

Keep up the rage.

I would be informing them of my intention to escalate and asking for proof that the email with the alarm clock was sent.

Well I am going to email Andrea and Jack and point out that if indeed the only activity mrsdrron had was family pooling then all those points were earnt by me so I also feel they have been stolen. And in this circumstance wouldn't it be good customer relations if they did notify the points donor. In our case the pool has always been just 2.
I must admit I have already been considering a complaint with consumer affairs-not that I think it would be successful but it would cost Velocity time and money.I must be a nasty b***er.
