Velocity reinstates Singapore Airlines redemptions

Hi All, just sharing my experience. I booked using Velocity points SIN to BNE Business. I followed the advice on here to contact via chat.

I was logged into the Singapore Airlines website and had joined Krisflyer. I asked if I could have my email address added to my flight and gave them the Singapore Airlines reference number.

They came back and asked some POI questions such as flight number, number of passengers etc.

Once they were happy with identification they said to give them a couple of minutes and came back saying it was added.

I was then able to go to the Singapore Airlines app and select my seats.

Thanks to everyone on here for their advice.
Just tried this, via chat they managed to add the booking to my krisflyer account (so I can see it via the app) but still asking for email (which is in my krisflyer account). They did however select seats for me which now appear in my booking.

I had the same problem, booked early Sep. SQ booking page kept asking for email to be added. Called VA and they confirmed it's been added, problem persisted, few weeks later I live chatted SQ through app, but they brushed me off.

Earlier this week, I accessed my booking to try again, and surprisingly I can select seats now. I encourage those having bookings to check again now as they might have fixed the issue.

Have checked and I can now also access seat selection. There is still an issue with updating passenger details (ie adding passport etc) which was working a few months ago. Still says email update needed?

Woo! All fixed for me as well. BTC and seat selection now available via SQ website.

I had a similar issue when doing this for myself 2 months ago but this seemed to have changed when I did it for my parents last week.

I was also able to book the cook

Did anyone notice the 'UPGRADE MY FLIGHT tab on the SQ booking

Does anyone know if VA platinum can request for business reward seats to open up when calling VA?

Also is there anyway to book first class via Velocity?

you can book first class where its available on select aircrafts (I think 777's and then the suites on A380) however there is rarely any availability for this.

From my experience if you call up the platinum hotline they will only offer you seats that are available via the velocity website points booking option. Love to hear if anyone else has any different experiences however it is frustrating to see connecting flights available but the full legs are not (i.e. Melb to Singapore is available, Singapore to London is available but not the whole trip)

When you say 777 & A380, which airlines are you referring to?

I have almost never seen 2x Qatar Business reward seats let alone first

I have had the same issue with SQ, 12 months ago you could book flights quiet easily for the full legs but this time around you have to book separately - I called VA asking if they could merge (MEL-SIN, SIN-IST) and they said that they couldn't and that I could only book separately

I believe that they are talking about SQ but a couple of months ago when I started planning for next year there was 2 award seats on QR F from PER-DOH almost daily and plenty of J award seats ADL-DOH.

Any specific months? As I've never seen it?

I was looking at March/April in 2024 back a few months ago when I first started planning and there was F availability on nearly every day in and out of PER on QR. Was plenty of F on the BKK-DOH route too.
EY has been temperamental lately. There was heaps of J reward ex Asia and all of a sudden it disappeared on the spot and the next day a heap of EY F availability popped up. After 4 days they have gone and still no J awards showing for any route

Im sure this has been asked before so my apologies...but what is the best way to see Singapore Airlines Reward availability that can be booked using Velocity Points? I'm looking for a J ticket back to Singapore from 'somewhere' in Europe in early July next year (can be somewhat flex on date / location).

Obviously can do it through the velocity site and try all the hopes, but it's very manual and the routes it throws out aren't always logical compared to some other airline search engines

The error message about needing email added was still there in both of my Velocity award bookings until a couple of days ago, so whatever fix may have been applied across the system did not (it seems to me) resolve the block on editing pax details. I have finally got the problem fixed for me by going to the SQ ticketing desk at Row 6 in SIN T3 Departures, and I now have full access to MMB for both the affected SQ PNRs. The SQ agent at SIN confirmed to me that an IT systemic problem had prevented contact details - phone as well as email - from migrating from my VA redemption bookings into SQ's own booking system.

Have all the Europe to Aus SIN award in J disappeared? We booked PER-LHR for Sept 24 the day the seats released, but now we're looking for a flight back (FCO or LHR) and I can't find anything back. Tried different legs, different airports etc.

Has anyone else noticed this? Or are they literally being snapped up the moment of release?

-edit-

Just grabbed a DOH to PER flight in F and will just grab a flight from FCO to DOH as I go.. Not the worst, but a little more work...

I’ve found the same. Found two flights in J for a friend in July/August ’24. Aus to IST and LHR to Aus without any dramas. Booked on the day of release. Each day had about 4 options for airports.

Looking for two for myself Europe to Aus in October, checking every day at release, nothing over PE. Been wondering if there’s some kind of event somewhere Sept/Oct that I’m not aware of..

I did spot a Manchester to Sin flight in J. October 2nd I think. It just didn't work at all with our plans, but they've really dried up. After posting I found random legs so they've been released. Just not in any useful quantity.

F with Qatar seems easier to find to be honest. I found a J seat from Zurich to Doha and F from Doha to Perth. Again it just didn't make too much sense as Id be in the south of Italy at the end of our trip.

Never flown F before so I guess this isn't the worst outcome.

I’ve noticed some SQ redemptions don’t show up on seats.aero, so I’m not sure the availability is spot on.

Ie MEL-SIN-EWR is available on June 11 2024 in J for 139,000 + ~$500

I made a booking for the same route in June on Friday and the seat selection worked straight away through SingaporeAir - 10A (bulkhead) for SIN-EWR was available for selection.

seat.aero only looks for some routes. I don't think MEL-EWR is one of them at least for Velocity.
