Velocity reinstates Singapore Airlines redemptions

I made a booking for the same route in June on Friday and the seat selection worked straight away through SingaporeAir - 10A (bulkhead) for SIN-EWR was available for selection.
They used to reserve this seat as a crew rest so hopefully it sticks.

It's a weird one because SQ business class always starts at row 11 regardless of aircraft...10A on the A350ULR is a strange outlier.

Yes I’ve read that - so was super surprised when I noticed I could book it. Especially as I was hesitant about the 18 hour flight + with an angled footwell. I was considering UA but Polaris really doesn’t excite me.

I like Polaris...the seat is actually better than SQ...the food on the other hand!

The seat looks awesome, however given I’ve secured a bulkhead seat I’m less worried about that. Also as you said the food is a major reason that compels me to SQ..
In addition, SQ is only an extra 43k points compared to UAs MEL-LAX and I don’t have to suffer finding and flying on a American B737 J product the rest of the way to the east coast 😂

Damn... have transferred all my points from evrywhere to VFF.

2 days ago I checked the weeks around my planned trip late next year and SIN-SYD in J x 4 was available on several flights.

Now my preferred flights are less than a year away and dates areavailable on Virgin's website... with no J availability on any flight for the whole month.

WTF? I guess I'd better go to seats.aero and hope something appears (it also shows nothing available). I wonder why literally dozens of J award seats vanished across many flights over 2 weeks.

Would calling Virgin make any difference?

Sorry to hear this for you, but unfortunately not. J rewards are like hen's teeth at the moment. Rare. Being snapped up as quick as they go up due to people's large points balances, pent up demand, and subscription sites like seats.aero that notify people when seats become available.

Hopefully more are released at some point.

It's strange as on seats.aero I can see literally dozens available in late Sept but then nothing past 2 Oct.

Was this October? I’ve been monitoring and Thursday there was availability on plenty of days then suddenly Friday all disappeared. The week starting 27 Oct has availability maybe because that’s the week the new SIN to SYD flight starts.

Yes, looking for mid-Oct.

Someone will correct me I'm sure, but it could be to do with the IATA schedules not being loaded for the Winter/Summer.
These flights are loaded...SQs booking window is about 355 days. (Obvs still maximum 330 days via Velocity).

The ones I saw in October were loaded then overnight a whole lot disappeared (as Savers in SQ) and totally in Air Canada/Krisflyer. I don't think it was people snapping them up either as on AC/KF at least even Y availability disappeared overnight, strange.

Yeah I was looking at a stack of them, waiting for the Velocity 330 day mark to arrive... loaded up all my points into Velocity ready to go then they all vanished, even the ones I'd seen multiple availabilities for, like 10 Oct. They were there and now they're not. Won't be happy if I am stuck with a stack of VFF points and have to use them for Y.

Maybe its becayse

Not completely accurate. SQ had a bit of a delay in loading rewards for the NW season (past Oct 27th). Maybe there was more availability released in the leadup to the new season and now that everything has been loaded in they’ve pulled the rug?
