Velocity status on Singapore Airlines

My apologies, I just assumed SUR was the correct abbreviation! You are correct @AIRwin, it is Surabaya we are travelling to.
Perfect, the reason why I ask is because of Terminals, being a flight to Indonesia it'll depart from T2 at Changi, but as mentioned above if you've got such a long layover head to the T3 lounge for sure.

Hopping on an old thread, but I have a SIA award flight in Y in July. No status on SIA but VA Gold.

Has anyone got into the lounge with VA status on a SIA award flight?

Thanks.

Of course you will...if the lounge is a Singapore Airlines operated lounge (you won't get access to partner / 3rd party lounges).

Piggybacking off this thread, I have 2 SQ J MEL-SIN-FCO (SQ228&366) booked as velocity award. Flying J for the first time!

1. Any tips in selecting seats on Mel-Sin 777 and overnight Sin-Fco A350 long haul?
2. Do I need to update FF as SQ to get free wifi?
3. Any other tips with respect to lounge selection. Am I eligible to visit AirNZ lounge in Mel T2 instead of SilverKris?

1. Check in at exactly 48 hours before departure and try and get bulkhead seats on each flight. Until then, all other seats are pretty much created equal

2. No, J class gets free wifi regardless of FF number added

3. Yes, you can use either lounge...generally Air NZ is a nicer place to sit with more natural light and tarmac views.

If travelling on SQ J booked via Krisflyer Awards, are there any benefits in providing VelFF number? i.e. do you earn Vel Status Credits?
I can't figure it out if this only applies to cash fares?

Just want to share (update) my recent experience with SQ (Economy SYD-SIN-BKK-SIN-SYD) on VA GL, as SQ Online Check-In allowed dual FFP programs now (for free onboard Wi-Fi with KF members)

SYD-SIN-BKK
  1. Online Check-In with dual FFP input, seems like the check-in doesn't recognise my VA GL and still got the normal boarding group number
  2. At SYD airport, headed to the J class counter, the staff was a bit upset when she saw that my ticket was in Y, but then I flashed my VA GL card, then they seemed to be OK and tagged my bag with J PRIOR tag
  3. I asked about Gold Benefits, and the staff tried to verify my status with my card, but then she said it was not valid, the system rejected, and I got my boarding pass with a frequent flyer mentioning KFLY VA. Just told them to let me try at the lounge instead
  4. Headed to lounge, and the staff was quite helpful, they said that the staff at the check-in didn't know how to do it properly way, she helps and I got access, the lounge was quite crowded on morning flight (SQ232) as other Star Alliance guests flooded the lounge too.
  5. For priority boarding, as the boarding pass didn't mention "Group 3", I will need to flash my VA Gold Card again, and does the trick.
  6. Onboard Wi-Fi working, but not as good as advertised (I used QR Wi-Fi before, and that's really great experience)
  7. At SIN airport, quite a short layover so I don't have a chance to access the lounge, but for priority boarding, the VA Gold card does the trick again.
  8. At BKK, the bag did not come out early (I think something with the loading sequence too), need to wait a bit for the bag to come out
BKK-SIN-SYD
  1. Again, online check-in with dual FFP doesn't work, but I tried to sneak into the SQ App, and I got a mobile boarding pass with VA GL mentioned in the digital BP
  2. At BKK, headed to the J class counter, the staff was quite familiar with VA GL and they tagged my bag J PRIOR with SQ Blue Business Class tag too. The same, physical BP doesn't contain any status with only KFLY VA mentioned
  3. Headed to the lounge, and again, the staff was quite familiar with VA GL and allowed me to get access, very good quality F&B here than the SYD SQ Lounge
  4. At the boarding gate, again, flash the card, and does the trick.
  5. At SIN, I had a chance to access KF Gold Lounge, and flash the card, again, the staff was quite familiar and allowed me access the lounge, quite plenty of people here as many SQ flight to Aus/EU at the night time.
  6. At SYD, my bag came out very slow, but still earlier than usual bags (as per my observation)

I think I would just forego wifi if it avoids all these issues. I've also seen several reports of Velocity members who seem to have confused staff (or staff have plain done the wrong thing) and ended up getting credited into Krisflyer, rather than Velocity which was their intention.

Just wondering did you also get additional luggage that is mentioned of 15kg?
