Velocity/Virgin websites are RUBBISH

Denali, so what was the outcome of the phone call - were the award seats phantoms or did they confirm availability?

Phantoms.

No reward seats released on our Christmas day flight yet and its was a "computer glitch" and he was "really sorry but cant help you or release them".

In the meantime, Im on the upgrade list and have a Upgrade Bid on the flight.

Its only SYD>MELB and we already have row 3 so nothing to be upset about but its Christmas so I thought why not...

Looks like there are more hiccups this morning, but at least the website is handling it bit more gracefully (rather than the times when it let's you try and sign in / make searches and then errors out):

I just updated "Firefox Developer Edition" on my machine today. I've noticed they've introduced a new warning when it detects an insecure website - I imagine this could deter a lot of people from making bookings when this feature lands in the stable Firefox release:

Same here! This has been happening on and off for me for a few weeks. I have tried various browsers, cleared cache/history etc to no avail!

Not sure if anyone has updated to the latest iOS VA app but it's actually quite good.

About 10000x better than the website...

As someone working in the IT industry, it actually surprises me how often huge organisations don't see their website as a priority. Right now their biggest priority should be the website, it's the face of the company and where almost all bookings are organised. The website is fragmented, mostly non-responsive design, not secure, the back-end seems really unstable, the velocity front-end looks like something out of the early 2000s etc. It's kind of embarrassing

Forget the warning - I find that the Virgin website is unusable in Firefox. Just ends up in redirect loops.

Found out why my "loops" notice occur.
Am about to board my QF flight, but if you check out Google and too many loop notices, it says to go into Google Chrome advance settings, top right, and clear cookies and history, that loop notice will disappear.
Now that I know, after I deleted all cookies, it worked.
If you deleted cookies only from the left bottom under the IE flag, the loop notice will carry on.
You have to delete cookies and history from top right.

More IT issues. Checking in and the agent looks puzzled and says there is $37.10 owing on our ticket.

I explained that we upgraded with points and was happy to pay so we can move on with our lives and I would make a call on Tuesday to resolve it. She refused payment, made 2 calls and walked off to find a supervisor and waived/voided the charge. She was very determined and somewhat relieved I wasnt pissy about the charge.

So did you find out what the charge was for? I didn't believe one could still owe money for a flight with a tix in hand?

Flights are taking unusually long to credit. Had a VA flight from a week ago just credited.

Redemption searches broken again for anyone else, or just me? I'm getting a redirect loop error.

No idea, I'm assuming something to do with taxes but the agent voided the charge and boarding passes issued.

Don't know why, but I never have a problem with the website. I predominately use my Apple MacBook Pro using Chrome. I had some minor problems during the implementing of the Sabre system but that was out weighed with getting very cheap reward flights including the infamous A47 (twice)....#1

Bolt :)

Im the same with Chrome...no problems , but Safari is another story , errors galore

As we all know - happy hour is not back until the 7th.... but wait the website is telling me it is on right now!! Fantastic!!

Oh hang on..

None of my searches are working through chrome at the moment, have to use Edge.

Also noted that you can't see any Copenhagen flights via the search either.

When I was looking to book our flights to Stockholm several months ago, I tried using the VA site to compare pricing with SQ - I was able to select ARN as a destination for the return flights without any problem, but didn't matter what dates etc I tried, the search wouldn't return any flights at all. Finally gave up and just booked direct with SQ.
