Anyone able to search/book flights atm? I just keep getting "Error: This webpage has a redirect loop"

Edit: Working on Firefox. Maybe just a Chrome thing.

Yep, get it every time. An incognito tab in Chrome (or clearing all cookies, but that's a pain) fixes it too.

Try clearing your cookies/going to incognito mode. Think I've seen that before and it ended up being that my session was borked.

I'm getting that error in Firefox...

Maybe it has something to do with cookies in the browser you usually use? I usually use Chrome and it's not working there anymore but Firefox (which I only ever use if Chrome isn't working) and Incognito Chrome are fine. I'd guess if I deleted cookies in Chrome it would work fine again there too. But I really have no idea about this stuff - just guessing.

Yup, its the cookies. theevilmuppet gives an explanation of the likely server side session management issues earlier on in this thread. Deleting the cookies works temporarily - but reoccurs for me once Virgin stores some cookies in my browser. Best just to use incognito mode in Chrome - I think the Firefox equivalent is private browsing.

Indeed, in Firefox, go to New Private Window for private browsing. Basically standard browsing but in a clean sandbox with no cookies or history saved upon closing the window.

These cookie and session errors with the website are odd. I don't know if it's similar with the Velocity website, though sometimes when I try to access it I sometimes get a redirect to infinite loop (or similar wording) error. One way I have tried to force it out otherwise is to retype the URL except not to use https, which in itself is also a bit strange.

Has anyone seen this before?

I was on the phone to the Velocity MCC yesterday changing a reward flight BNE - LAX return in economy (original booking was via SYD due to no availability) when the lovely Velocity staff member mentioned there was PE availability on the direct flight.

I said that's strange, it's not showing PE reward availability online (I searched right before I called to change the flight), and the rep politely told me I must be blind.

Anyhow, as I was booking for a wedding I thought forget that just book the economy now (I was told to book it online after the rep cancelled the original booking whilst the rep waited on the phone for me to do it so I felt under pressure).

I thought about it last night and went searching availability when I discovered something strange.

When I changed my departure date, reward availability for the return flight changed.

In other words I searched for (example) depart 28th, return 2nd and no PE or J reward seats were available.

Then I clicked the tab for the 27th departure, and magically both PE and J reward seats appeared for the return flight on the 2nd.

So I called Velocity and explained, and thankfully they very happily cancelled the booking once more and reissued it with the J reward for the return.

Has anyone else seen this, or did I miss it all these years?

Cheers

I've seen similar issues in the past... most likely bugs in the site with how it represents valid seats that can be ticketed.

Been trying now for two days to make a redemption booking AUH to BKK return for next week. It get to the Payment Page " Select Payment Type", but doesn't give any options! Can't continue without selecting a payment type..... Grrrrrrr..........

Damn right they are - well Velocity is anyway - spent an hour on the site today trying to redeem 2 flts - everything worked 100% right through to payment page when it just would not display 'Points + Pay' slider and would not accept my 'tick' to accept Ts and Cs - ended up calling Velocity to complete over phone.

Delta worked amazingly well on my phone to book SYD-LAX-SYD for $900 on VA1/2 and no card fee.

I spoke to Velocity again this morn - agent this time was a lovely young lady who was much more approachable than the dude I spoke to yesterday - was told this morn that web site currently going through upgrade and that I should wait until later today or tomorrow to try to access 'Seats' function then viewing / changes should be available online? Right or wrong? I have no idea.

I asked could she show me a seat map - YES sure just go to SeatGuru and you can view there. One floor with that suggestion is that SeatGuru indeed have old 777 J layout loaded and not new - agent did not know this. Never a dull moment in VA land huh?

Seems to be back up again... for now.

Strange time of day to perform an upgrade.

Well, after two days of error messages on the Virgin site, I went ahead and booked my 8 flights on QANTAS.

If anyone from Virgin is reading this, this is now 12 flights you've lost from me this year because you can't manage to put together a website that doesn't just spit out error messages.

These flights will now take me to Plat on QANTAS, and I can't see any reason why I won't just stay there.

Still having that problem ... Very poor showing from VA
