VH-EBV layout?

I guess the reason why I don't like this layout, is because I did a JASA earlier this year, PER-SYD, and ended up on the 2x3x2 bird.

Might as we have saved the points and gone Y. When I boarded, l had to do a double check of my BP, to see if I was in J or Y......

Have read this thread with interest.

Told by a friend that they recently did some market research on this topic - it would seem a comparison of purchase intention QF vs DJ across pricing, schedule and seating is the topic. With particular attention to seating product (lie flat vs recliner).

Am sitting right now in a 2x3x2 business seat.

Will be the last time. Seat in front already going to be a problem. Going to be reclined basically the whole way.

No more QF for me transcontinental. Especially for up to $4000 return! Dropping the 747 is the final straw for me anyway.

I note even the Wiggles appear to be in economy!

!

Hoping for the demise of DJ ghost too coast 332 services?

Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

Why on earth would you install a new seat just to cover it up with a tray?!

So they can transfer the aircraft to Jetstar and just change the covers...........JQ will sell the seat in the middle. This has been explained plenty of times before.

That would make sense if JQ were getting more A332s, in was pointed out yesterday that in fact the opposite is planned, with the JQ birds coming back to QF and being modified to the current config over 4 weeks, of course that means we are relying on QF giving us direction as to what will happen........

So in what areas does the QF A330 service/pricing beat DJ A330 ...

Strange research if it came back with recliner seats > nearly flat seats

There will be a reconfig of the ex-JQ birds as they don't have IFE. I am
Guessing this will be part of the 6 week turn around

This will be an interesting one!

We haven't had confirmed if the 6 weeks involves IFE

It can't take that long to change seat covers and a few other bits and pieces.

I wonder if JQ or QF is paying for the refit...

if my memory is correct...JQ will be taking delivery of the first 787-800s mid/end 2013..and the JQ a332s will then begin to be transferred back to QF..so we will actually see the QF a332 domestic 2-3-2 fleet increase from late 2013..BUT MY XMAS WISH IS THE 15x787-800s will go straight to QF(red tail) and all QF 332s will go to JQ...AND A WHOLE NEW QF DOMESTIC WIDEBODY PRODUCT ON THE 787-800 IS COMING IN 2013!!

Three of the JQ birds do have IFE, it's more seat changes for them.

That certainly wasnt the answer my friend gave (thankfully!).

Bear in mind, I recently flew to Perth and i was the only pax in VA J (738) on an overnight flight home, vs a full QF J cabin on a daytime flight on the way over. Is it any wonder they think they can keep the 2-3-2 (my a/c was 2-2-2 fwiw)?

Admittedly, the product is probably adequate for the task at hand. But adequate is not necessarily conducive to effective, and it would take a large customer base consisting of a bunch of lock-ins or mindless, spineless robots to translate that to profitable.

Your description of the "adequate" product rings true - but will be difficult to be profitable if your competitor can keep their J fares lower with a superior product - if they can deliver it consistently. "Adequate" will never survive if pitched against "better"

While the Virgin product (on the NEW A330's) is better than Qantas....

I don't think that having a fully flat-bed on MEL/SYD-PER is a medium or long term proposition for Virgin....

Qantas could have gone SkyBed1 on the A330's but that loses out about 65 seats in Y

Virgin's 2-2-2 lie flat cabin is completely enclosed between doors 1 and 2.

Qantas' 2-2-2 Skybed Mk I takes up space aft of door 2.

To illustrate:

Virgin's layout is superb and John Borghetti is smart enough not to lower standards to meet Qantas' poor effort.

News.com are hardly a QF supporter, last weeks story regarding the Belgium prince complete with profanity headline was a case in point, although dragging the press out of bed on a Sunday morning to promote more of the same is a somewhat questionable tactic, as I already mentioned, the mum and dad audience is probably happy with the new equipment Qantas are putting on the route, as are the accountants ;). We live in interesting times.
