Sorry if this has been covered else where but I can't locate it... What J cabin style will this bird have?

2-2-2
2-3-2
Skybed?

Anyone know?

Nobody knows AFAIK, hasn't been released and I tried to find it a few days ago to no avail.

QF twitter or social media for that fact seem to like showing the plane off, however have not answered anything regarding the lay out!

It would be an extremely bad decision to do that when DJ's A330 eclipses the 2-3-2 QF layout in every way possible.

what happened to ebq, ebr, ebs, ebt, ebu or are they reserved for returning jq craft

Yes other week flew Per-Syd on a QF A330 (2+3+2 with middle blocked) and Syd-Per on a DJ A330 business return. The seat space/comfort etc. is chalk and cheese. DJ wins hands down by a country mile - 37 inch seat pitch on QF is criminal for the money they charge. Food basically the same IMO. Wine better on QF.

Why is there a need for beds on domestic flights?
I can only think of the red eye flights that would have a need for them.

Good for the customer but overkill IMHO.

When the seat in front of you is reclined you really don't have much space to use a laptop etc. Not so much to do with a bed but more to do with personal space.

The current 2-3-2 isn't the answer but what is wrong with the EBM/EBN layout?

2-3-2 is a joke (don't know why they thought they could get away with that) but I agree the beds are completely unnecessary and I think Virgin did that for 2 reasons. Differentiation being one, and the other being they realised they could only put a certain number of PAX in the A330 and were restricted in cabin size too - so they decided less seats, more comfort I guess

Only thing wrong with EBM/EBN is having the fold out IFE - much prefer gate to gate.

Anyhow EBV still doesn't appear to have flown rev flight according to qantassource... The entry with 42J also looks to have been copied from EBP - the EBP ref is still there.

I wonder why QF changed from the layout in EBM and EBN?

That was meant to be their new layout but they had massive complaints about it so ended up blocking the middle seats. There hasn't been new A330's into QF since. Lets hope they get refitted to a new 2-2-2 layout soon.

Ebv hasn't been delivered yet. It is coming in a week or so. Until it arrives I doubt anyone outside Qantas or Airbus knows.

The lack of pitch occurred because market research had indicated that gate to gate Ife was important. Perhaps that group didn't appreciate what they were trading off for that.

I'm happy with gate to gate but without touchscreen -- ie far enough away that you can't!!

EBM and EBN are 2-2-2. EBP and O went to 2-3-2. There must have only been 12 months in between the two configs

EBM/EBN delivered to QF in Nov-09/Feb-10 with 36J
Eight months later
EBO/EBP delivered to QF in Nov-10/Dec-10 with 42J with the middle seat cover coming in May-11
Three birds to Jetstar subsequently in 42J as well (previous Jetstar config was 38J)
EBQ/EBR/EBS in Feb-11/Sep-11/Nov-11

EBT/EBU do not appear to have been delivered (EBU was one was the old 747-300 Nalanji Dreaming so maybe reserved?)

EBT and EBU are both amateur built aircraft, so those regos weren't available....
