The 0835 hours VN781 arrival into MEL on Monday 21 September 2015 is running almost three hours late, forecast to arrive at 1128. This is expected to delay the 1035 MEL to SGN VN780 by two hours. VN is normally a pretty punctual operator into and out of MEL.

The Friday 4 December 2015 VN781, the 2050 hours from SGN to MEL did not take off until 2223 and hence on Saturday 5 should in theory be in MEL at 1029, 64 minutes late but there are many delays due to possible fog in MEL this morning at 0800, and this aircraft (A332 VN-A379) is in a holding pattern above Boort, Victoria.

The Sunday 13 December VN772, fittingly a B772 registration number VNA146 took off from SYD 75 minutes after its 1150 departure time and should be in SGN at 1737, 62 minutes behind time. This airline is fairly low profile but carries quite a lot of Australians given Vietnam's many interesting attractions.

The Christmas Day VN781 arrival in MEL from SGN is almost two hours late with arrival expected at 1121 rather than 0925. VN780, the 1125 hours return flight has been delayed until a predicted 1300 hours in its departure.

VN780, the 1125 MEL to SGN did not take off until 1336 on Saturday 13 February as the inbound VN781 had arrived in MEL 140 minutes late at 1145.

The Wednesday 17 February VN780 from MEL to SGN is now departing at a suggested 1400 this afternoon instead of 1125. the inbound is about three hours and 15 minutes late and wil arrive at around 1240 (VN781.)

The Tuesday 23 February VN780 (1125 hours MEL to SGN) did not depart until 1207 but is expected to only be five minutes late at 1550 with its arrival.

The Friday 26 February VN772 from SYD to SGN is forecast to depart at 1320 rather than 1150 and to maintain that lateness through the trip, arriving at 1805 not 1635.

This is due to incoming flight VN773 (B772ER VNA143) departing SGN on Thursday 24's evening at about 2300 instead of 2110 and not now arriving SYD until a forecast 1145 instead of the scheduled 0950 hours.

Not helped by being in a brief holding pattern over Quambatook, VN781 (A332 VN-A378), the redeye from SGN is about to arrive in MEL at about 1000, 35 minutes late on Monday 29 February.

VN781 into MEL on Monday 14 March (same aircraft as on 29 February above) is about 35 minutes behind time with expected arrival at 1035. This is forecast to delay the return flight, VN780 to a 1200 not 1125 departure.

VN773, the 2150 hours Sunday 13 March SGN to SYD is 45 minutes late with an identical 1035 arrival forecast. Aircraft is B772ER VN-A146.

On a rainy Friday 18 March 2016, VN781 is likely to arrive MEL at 1013, 48 minutes late after departing SGN 77 minutes late at 2207 on Thursday 17 March.

Viet today in MEL had the longest checkin line I have ever seen in my life! SQ staff told me it's because of language problems be pax and checkin staff and it always happens. Huh? Assume it's Menzies - does anyone else share my thoughts on an oh so simple solution?

Cruiser Elite, there are plenty of Vietnamese girls or lads in Melbourne who would make ideal checkin staff. If born here, not all could speak Vietnamese but surely many could as their parents would have ensured that they were taught both Vietnamese and English. I trust that is the 'simple solution' that you have in mind. I haven't looked lately but I would imagine that all the mainland Chinese airlines (plus Cathay Pacific) departing from Australia ensure that they have Mandarin (and for HKSAR, Cantonese) speakers available. How could checkin staff ask the 'security questions' (redundant as many of we Australians who travel frequently might believe these questions to be) if they could not speak the language of the passenger? One could hand them a card with the information on it, but getting a 'yes' or 'no' would be a challenge.

By the way, VN781 is not arriving until 1205 so my suggestion above of a '1230' departure was optimistic: more likely to be at least 1310. A332 VN-A383 is the aircraft.

VN772 from SYD to SGN on Good Friday (25 March 2016) has been altered to depart at 1250 instead of 1150. Strangely the QF website lists an unaltered arrival time of 1635, which is unlikely.

VN772 from SYD to SGN now has a different timetable from the previous post with scheduled pushback at 1015. On Thursday 21 April, B772ER VN-A146 was airborne at 1058. Arrival should be at about 1635, 35 minutes tardy.

The severe westerly wind in SYD on Friday 27 May restricted runway operations to use of the 07 runway, so VN772, the 1015 SYD - SGN (B772ER VN-A143) took off at 1215 with forecast arrival of 1725, 85 minutes late.

The Saturday 28 May 2016 VN772 from SYD is expected to depart half an hour late at 1045 for its journey to SGN.

The overnight SGN - MEL redeye VN781 did not take off from Vietnam until 2350 hours on Saturday 18 June despite a 2100 hours pushback time. A332 VN-A381 should arrive at about 1100 on Sunday 19 June instead of 0835. This will delay the return flight to SGN, VN780, from 1035 to an expected 1230 in departing.
