Vinomofo Wine Deals

i think it's time we started ordering reds with the highest amount of anti-oxidant properties. But just how would we do that? What was the question again?

Any ideas on these secrets
2012 Heathcote Shiraz $55 down to $27.50 96 points Jeremy Oliver
2010 Mt barker Shiraz $55 down to $24.75
2012 Barossa Shiraz $49 down to $24.50 95 Huon Hooke

The Mount Barker shiraz is probably X by Xabregas Figtree Syrah (Not Shiraz!)
Alcohol 13.8% - YES
rrp $55 - YES
previously sold here - YES

You should be able to go to the nexday site and put in your details.

Hey, that works, sort of, however mof_ secret deal just gives a grape variety and vintage year. Still annoying that full details don't show on my VM account site. Guess I'll have to be more organised and set up a cellar app and update it when wine is received - that's going to be a big job though.

Yea it would be a helpful feature. Hell they should have a my cellar page on their site which automatically enters your wines in.

It is a pain for me as I am building my stockpile in my dads wine cellar so will probably forget what is in there.

To University Of Illinois scientists!

To the end of the wine hangover!

Cheers! Clink, glug, glug, glug.

Researchers at the U. of I. have genetically engineered a yeast that could not only reduce the toxins that lead to hangover headaches, but also increase the heart-healthy benefits of wine.
They essentially did this by slicing and dicing genetic material to create the desired effect.
The research also means scientists can improve the nutritional value in foods, said one of the researchers, Yong-Su Jin.

“Wine, for instance, contains the healthful component resveratrol,” Jin said in a statement.
“With engineered yeast, we could increase the amount of resveratrol in a variety of wine by 10 times or more.
But we could also add metabolic pathways to introduce bioactive compounds from other foods, such as ginseng, into the wine yeast.
Or we could put resveratrol-producing pathways into yeast strains used for beer, kefir, cheese, kimchee, or pickles–any food that uses yeast fermentation in its production.”

Another benefit: The alternations could improve the fermentation process that often creates the toxins that head to hangover symptoms, Jin said.
The research was reported in a recent issue of Applied and Environmental Microbiology.

From the 'fo facebook page...

Wow. What started on Monday night as Shiraz grapes on a vine that were going to be left to rot, has turned into 200 dozen pre-sold cases of wine, raising $36,000 for Hutt Street Centre for the homeless, 3 days later. Sold out in 5 hours. Lump in your throat stuff.

A special thankyou goes out to Jock Harvey from Chalk Hill Wines (for the grapes), Peter Fraser from Yangarra Estate Vineyard (for winemaking), Damien Torresan from Torresan Estate Bottling for bottling, Nicholas Breslauer from Collotype for labels and Danielle Bayard from Hutt St Centre who got on board this exciting project from the get-go and of course, a BIG thanks to the 200 big hearted mof_s who sponsored a case. See you all this Sunday in McLaren Vale for the picking party!
This got me thinking, we've got homeless brothers and sisters all over the country. What about it, wine people of My Barossa,
Coonawarra, Adelaide Hills, Yarra, Mornington, Hunter, Margaret River, Tassie, anywhere - got some grapes? The Homeless Grapes Wine Project doesn't need to stop here...

It is a real thing. Check out winedoctor.com.au for resveratol enhanced wines.

It sounds awful, but I bought a bottle at auction for $4 as part of my last Langton's purchase just for the lols. I'll let you know what it is like when it arrives.

Perhaps the Tomich Icons of Woodside 1777 Pinot Noir? Price match and it is under cork. Could not find the % alcohol though, nor the Halliday rating. Any other suggestions, anyone?

i was in my local the other day buying odds and sods and a poonawatta four corners was there in an ends bin. At 18 bucks, i thought i'd try it based on everyones recent positive tales especially the Docs.
