Pretty shabby service from VM:

Brought a six pack from VM on 20 June. Australia Post informs me today that it might be delivered tomorrow, July 06.

Brought 2 dozen absolute bargain (sub $10) cab savs from Winestar on June 29 freight free. The order was processed and the wine sent out that day and I received them on July 01.

Go figure!

I've got to say that VM has been receiving less and less of my wine-buying budget of late but I still hang in there waiting for that elusive bargain... Probably more fool me.

Old Block is a good wine but $160 rrp is steep. $79 is probably not bad but 2017 isn't a great Barossa year - at least not as good as 2016 or 2018.

Go-on, you know you want to. Just a small protest from me. Their wines can be so hit and miss with some of the also ran wineries that keep popping up that I am feeling a bit jaded about the whole business model. I can't help thinking too we pay through the nose for the imported wines which could have any RRP Justin Dry decides.

Correct. The BS I have heard is that "this is the price the winery would charge for it in Australia", which is patently complete bollox. I know a couple of importers very well and am well versed with how European prices translate to here.

Unfortunately that amounts to any imported wine, not only at VM. Whenever I see an Italian or French wine and google the original price I want to cry.
E.g. saw a 2020 La Vite Lucente the other day for EUR 27 and TWC sell it for AUD 115. Nice margin.

EDIT: Just saw it at Langtons for a reasonable $60. Still I find that imports are mostly overpriced in AU.

Sure. Just picked the first French wine in the VM list. Bois Royal Bordeaux. Just under 4 Euros in France, just under $8 in the USA. Claimed $40 RRP here. Not that I was thinking of buying this, just picked the first cab off the rank. I'm sure we can all check things out like this. Even WET, GST and import tax don't make up the difference
