I feel compelled to confess that I too coughed up for a six pack of the the Hewitson at $69. I forgot about the CR ticket clip. My wife likes Barossa shiraz, so worth a punt! How do retailers make any profit on deals like this?

It all comes down to their cost price.

I think if you are expecting a traditional Barossa offering (full bodied, black fruits upfront), you might be in for a surprise.

6 for $69 delivered here using code WEEKEND10 Hewitson Ungrafted Shiraz (6 Bottles)
My order arrived just now. Posted over at my place, copied here.
The a/v is 13.5%.
Popped, poured, swirled and sipped.

This is actually looking quite promising.
Bright fresh crimson/magenta colour, only light/moderate density .
Restrained nose, slightly spicy dark cherry and red plums, no sign of oak (older barrels used).
Palate is fresh and juicy, bright fruit, moderate fine tannin, acid in balance, no hard edges, finishes a little short.

Drink now or short term cellaring, but for about $11-$12 it's a pretty good buy on this quick taste.

But whoever dreamed up the $90 RRP is certainly smoking the good stuff.

Better than the Strawberry Hill Shiraz 2021?

If you like them big and ripe, It's 15.5%, not the default 14% in the VM listing. Only 50 6-packs available, well 49 after mine.
Any VM codes around to sweeten the deal?
