Vinomofo Wine Deals

Mrs Rugby and I met a rep from Hentley Farm yesterday at a travel event and got to try 'The Beast' Shiraz. Not sure what vintage but it was very nice and the restaurant sounded great.

Thanks for the heads up. Have been waiting for this and managed to jump in while it was selling fast.
You can ask them to call you when something is back in stock; I got a call about this one first thing this morning.

I actually did ask them to call when the Maverick was back in stock but no call as yet.

Mind you, I do hate the calls so it is a bit of mixed messaging from re call/never ever call

It's a bit quiet here.
Nothing to do with Vinomofo but here goes.
Henschke Hills of Grace new release. Any chance of it in Vinomofo?? :)

No chance.

Hey everyone,

First post.

Love your work!

Love all the recommendations and reveals in this thread, really helpful and appreciated.

I just grabbed a case of the Barossa GSM, can't wait.

I hope to contribute and be involved in the future, cheers *raises glass*
Welcome. Suggest you check through some previous posts as items often come up again.

Just in - $55 down to $35 - Greenock Creek 'Alices' Shiraz 2006 - Red Wine

Any knowledge? Any experience?

I took the bait.

I tried a few Greenock Creek, Alices and Apricot and like them though not 2006.
However alcohol is 17% and hopefully not overpowering.

Alices block is more "commercial" thus more yields than other blocks.
I will see if I can detect dolomite or "road tar"

Here's what Philip White said:

The finish is as tannic as Yudnamutana dolomite, which is
generall
y used for road metal, so should not wear out with undue haste. Ideally, I’d wait at least ten years.

I know you wont be disappointed. I've had a couple from my previous purchase and will be cellaring this new lot for at least another 5 years.

This is cork closure and Greenock Creek wine closure is now all CORK. This seems to be going against the trend.
I take it for granted that they are using the highest quality cork.
Just recently I have Torbreck Factor 2003 and no cork soaking at all. Perfect cork.

Just me watching grass grow or paint dry.

Notice so many purchases of Alices are female, Fiona, Natalie, Carmel, Jemma, Louise...
I have to change my perception of Shiraz and female drinkers. ;)

I had the Alice a few years back - can't remember which vintage, though. Was HUGE with alcohol off the scale..... so big, we could have had it with a knife and fork. Personally, I would give it a miss, but if huge alcohol levels are your thing, then get it.
