Vinomofo Wine Deals

Tempting... But not much to go on.

The best value ever, eh?

goddam_!! I hate that 1 click button, couldn't resist the temptation for some cheap Pinot and took a gamble myself.

It's usually not too bad for the Salvation, but it depends on how picky you are I suppose! It's a gamble, but you'll usually get a good deal - it might not be stuff you usually get into though.

I bought salvation VII a while back. Whilst there were some real nice wines in there they also threw in a sparkling red and some cheapies. I probably wouldn't go for it again.

Took a punt on the black market pinot too. Just hope I get something different to Golden Plains or GISA - have bought a few cases of these 2 in the past and whilst tasty they're getting a little old. But with my $20 credit for doing a survey, $6.50 per bottle is exceedingly cheap whichever way this goes!

Has anybody ever purchased the Salvation Case and is it worth a crack?

Since they started this concept over a year ago I've purchased 3 cases. Originally they claimed that the salvation case was made up of returns to their warehouse from cases sent to customers where a bottle had broken during delivery or their last few cases of a particular wine and that you could end up with a $50 or even a $100 bottle at random in your mix. All of these things seemed unlikely. These offers also used to sell out very quickly, but don't seem to do that anymore.

From what I have seen the wines in the cases are almost always from their cheaper ends where they have bought too much and can't sell them, so break them up and mix them into a case called Salvation.

Nothing wrong with this at all. But they should just market it as mixed case of their cheapest wines and be more honest.

If you want a mixed case of cheap wines then this is for you. If you're thinking of finding something amazing or high end in the box you will be disappointed.

For what you will get it's probably fair value, and makes a good change from the usual requirement of having to buy 6 or 12 of the same wine each time.

Salvation is a lucky dip...

They hit a real low when they were tied up with CoTD as they mixed 6 bottles of total rubbish with 4-5 good mid range wines and 1-2 expensive wines. The RRP in that case was a bit ambitious...

I haven't done one recently, but agree - they seem to just be "bin ends" now... I don't think they are remarkably different than the cube or the club cases.

I have been banished from any further purchases by Shrek, due to our wine cellar (AKA garage) overflowing

I know its along time away, but maybe he is thinking of 10 August. :D Cool, constant temperature storage is always a problem I know only too well - my wine fridges (300 bottles capacity) are full, as well as a 3 metre underbench storage in the pantry.

penegal is currently undertaking construction works on the celler, although my review of what is there suggest some more drinking is required... especially a few big reds.

I may need to host a [non-BYO] BBQ when the weather improves...
