Vinomofo Wine Deals

not really. I presume very small quantities are selling for $160. Someone will pay lots for a few bottles of wine of the year.

It was 3 x 6 bottles and 3 x 3 bottles. Prices were $160-180 (plus buyers premium). It was the week after Halliday's announcement so I guess people scrambling to secure supplies given everywhere else is sold out. Will be interesting to see how prices go over the next couple of years

Its time for a good old VM gripe. I have spent approx $30,000 (yes zeros correct) with VM and have been a buyer since the very early days when it was a deal a day and a tipping point before the deal was on and Andre was the guy on phone support. For the last 12 months I have been trying to get VIM emails and a broker who will just email me when they have Pinot Noir Straight Grenache or Semillon available. Got nowhere. Then early in August I purchased 12 x Rosso di Montalcino Il Poggione Sangiovese 2010 which I really wanted and it said dispatched after 7th August. I got an email on 5th August (2 days before the dispatch saying the courier had damaged the wine and there was no stock to replace it and here.s your refund (load of Croc obviously). Its like they went down a cul-de-sac 12 months ago and can't find their way back. There's my gripe in a nutshell. Has anybody else had this experience ? Don't bag me its just my experience !

But .. gee it has been a great party.. so much really great plonk…. what a ride … woweee…..
I'm aksherley a bit sad , but it was all too good to continue.
I'm still a loyal vim , but my expectations are moderated by the commercial realities.
I'm not sure how they plan to retain their loyal vim's , when the really great deals are not only thinning out, but instantly snapped up by a squillion other vimranha's lurking in the pond

sniff….'ts all a bit sad… sob ,sigh…….

Otoh … Everything I have had to do with the company has been fast friendly and well organised.

Thanks Dr Ralph. I'm not alone. I still hold out hope]

I wouldn't hold out hope. VM are clearly going for mass market. I spend $1000-2000/month with them and my broker's called me all of once and has never emailed me anything (despite my requests). He either has no idea what I want ot figures I can buy stuff myself.

If you want a good broker I'd recommend Langtons. You won't get aa good deals but you'll get much better service.

No - but I've been wanting to get some and hoping that it came up again - thanks for the heads up :)
A very interesting duo today, this one and the 97 pointer chardonnay. I gave a couple of the 2013 3oceans chardonnay featured a fortnight ago to a work mate who absolutely loved it. This augers well for the remainder. As far as todays 2012 3oceans chardy, it surely will deliver the goods, and the plethora of gold tells you something. chuck in a trophy in perth and it should all come together like torvill and dean, tom and jerry, sigfried and roy. Well.....As far as the sold out other chardy with 97 points, that wil be an interesting one. Someone post some tasting notes for the rest of us.

I have to say I've had a totally different experience as my broker is sensational. He knows my preferences and will email, call or sms me to let me know when something I'm likely to purchase comes up. Maybe have a chat to VM customer service and be reassigned to a different broker? To be honest if my broker wasn't so proactive I probably wouldn't be spending $3k+ per month on VM ;)

I'll have to jar the grey cells. Some are still cellared like the 2010 Hewiston Magnums. In the early days the 2009 Soul Growers GMS and the 2002 Parker Estate Cab as well as the 2007 Thomas Semillon, Recently the 2013 Serrat Pinot. If I asked myself why I didn't buy more it would be the Austins 2012 Pinot (slurped back 5 cases - yum). Just so many like the 2009 deep woods cab ( 6 or 7 six packs down the hatch) At one stage I had 10 orders in the vinosphere circling and waiting to land. I must have clicked on 40 offers in a row a few years back. Oh the good old days when there was no VIM as everybody was a VIM

Brokers made a commission putting through your sale over the phone. It's better for them obviously and the more knowledgable ones reap the rewards. MelHman has the panacea - get another broker tactfully, and I am sure Mel can name names confidentally. I personally like mine even though the person is a little young and inexperienced, but hell, none of us started off subscribing to Parkers mag and drinking Hill of grace did we...Ok, one or two may have, but the rest of us were knocking back ten dollar Essendon wynns.................. and lovin it !

My original broker was a bloke called "Andre Eikmeier" but not sure what became of Him. He was excellent and had a lot of product knowledge. Nothing was too difficult for Him. He even phoned me and gave details of what He had tasted and rejected sometimes, and steered me in the right direction. He was so helpful. One week He advised me He had tasted 40 wines and rejected 38 and only allowed 2 for sale. What a Broker. I wish they could track Him down and employ Him.

I haven't tried them Beefarmer. I have Thomas, Hvd, Stevens, Lovedale, Brokenwood, Hungerford etc even Chateau Tanunda but missed out on the Margan for some reason, it sounds like you are a fan so I should probably try them as you are an astute semillon buyer

Goodness me.
How do you manage to have so much alcohol CONTINOUSLY in your system?
Don't you give your liver a break?

Maybe Bill Gates or Steve Jobs could help you with your computer problems to? It's naive to think that a 300,000 member business is going to give you the same level of personal service as your local corner wine shop. My local wine shop is both excellent and will give you excellent service if you spend a few hundred (or more) a month with them bases on my experience. As mentioned before Langtons also has good service and access to plenty of good wine

I should reply more accurately instead of reminiscing. My best bang for buck red (Austin 2012 Pinot Noir at I think $7.50) and White (Domain Day 2011 Riesling) but there a lot of close seconds

You only Liver Once. Broke my golden rule again. "Never buy wine or post on Wine Forums whilst drinking wine." (Chateau Lafon-Rochet 2010 tonight) My wife and I consume approx 5 bottles a week between us and visiting friends (we are retired). I have a fairly large cellar which consists of second hand freezers on Digital timers which keeps the wine at approx 15 Celcius. (backup generator as in rural QLD and lots of outages) We have enough to carry us into the retirement villa and beyond. Some of my Bordeaux won't be ready till 2040-2100 like the montrose 2010 but I am happy to bless my children and their spouses with what i cannot consume. My Legacy. And NO I don't adopt children !

No the Vim deal today (serrat sv etc). Anyone got suggestions on order of tasting? I'm thinking the pinot, then sv, cabs, and finish with Shiraz?

I guess it depends on what you're eating with it. WOMS is a shiraz cab blend. Also, these are all built to last - I'm not sure I'd be drinking them all in one session. The Serrat is a 2014, and the WOMS a 2010, so one already has a 4 year head start on the other...
