Vinomofo Wine Deals

Noticed the Bethany Old Vine last week and decided to try a 2009 I had stashed away a few years ago. Great wine for the price, but when I went to buy it it was sold out. Good to see its back for today only, hopefully the 2012 is just as good as the 2009. If anyone else buys some I'd be interested to hear what u think...

So, the wife is out tonight, and the top shelf quaffers are calling me to open them. I dismiss:

1. the Hewitson Private Cellar SM 2010 Magnum - too big (liver too small)

2. the Hemera Tier 1 S 2008 - still too scary

3. the Quorum S 2010 - even more scary

4. the Moppity Reserve S 2010 - mm, your next

5. the Hewitson Mother Vine 2013 S - had one last month (very nice. And you are more middle shelf).

So the only other nice quaffer that I haven't placed in the Pool Room (aka hidden the from wife in the cellar!!) is:

6. the Paxton Jones Block 2012 Shiraz.

WHAT A CHOICE - this is the real 97 point deal. It's off the hook good, as the cool kids used to say where I grew up. It tastes like a young grange (lucky enough to try one only two weeks ago for somebody's 60th). I am so glad I got a six pack and got (this one) in the Ace Pack. This will be ridiculous in years to come. I am now going to hunt for more ...

Second best wine to pass my lips this year.

Do you know what the Jones Block 05 is like - someone gave me a bottle - still have it in the wine fridge

I am afraid I don't, The Diector. I just double checked Vivino (you often get some fair and varied opinions, so usually gives you a general gist on a wine), but there were no detailed write ups on the 05. I also checked JHs notes, and he gave it a warm review, and an impressive 95 to boot.

Sounds like a nice present, and 10 years on, it should be a lovely one to try. Enjoy when you do open it ...

New look website, on it for 10 minutes and a stuff up already. Be careful pressing the bottom buy button and it snaps very quickly. I was persuing free freight using a code located at the end of the history of vm story, but alas nothing doing.....I will not bore you with it, but I wish to buy another 6 pack of pinot mixed. Four of us, including Pete of course, went to the Yarra Valley Friday for lunch at meletos. Great stuff. Then went into Innocent Bystander remembering BC20's good recent time there. Tried the $25 Innocent bystander pinot and thought it was a little average. However, the fifty bucker Giant Steps is noticeably better as BC previously explained. So passed on any purchases there as one of the lads picked up a six pack of something else. Friday night Wozza, I had the Hawksdrift and it was good. Very good for the money spent. Far more complex than the Innocent Bystander and certainly different to the Giant steps which we sampled. The GC was thicker with more fruit characters prominent wheres the new Zealand was more earthy and tasted better with food. the food , Vietnamese in kew, really added a better end palate and made it more rewarding. Saturday night quiet footy night helped myself to one of the six from the pinot pack...I wanted a relative comparison, so knocked back the Adelaide ones, and the other voctorian and went for probably the cheapest, the 2014 Duck sauce. The reason I am buying another six pack is because of this duck sauce. it is very good and ridiculous at $15. so my thoughts are if this is the cheapest, and it is very good, this pinot pack represents a great mixture. No doubt the duck is a simpler wine but you would expect that with the price difference. however, all were good.

I must mention that I tried the churchview zinfandel onthursday and after never having a z wine in my life, this one is a beauty. that makes 4 out of 4 churchview wines that are not just good, they are supurb. I do hold out for the possibility of the Churchview othr red, a Cabernet blend. According to the winemaker , that is the best wine he has ever made. Bloody big statement from him, hence to be able to get that for under $11 would probably make my Christmas !

Good pick up, I spotted some basic UI issues too. Other major things noted:

* Looks like they've connected better with their courier - delivery tracking looks to be embedded in orders

* You can no longer see your total referral credits balance, just the components of it (I know, I know, first world problems)

* You can now buy gift cards (don't recall that previously)

Good pick up, I spotted some basic UI issues too.

Some other changes come with the new UI:
- Credits now can expire
- It's not easy to check new daily deals, like the Beelgara Regional Reserve Botrytis Semillon 2009 (375ml) today is not show on the default page except for the running items, once you miss it, you have to wait.

I hope some of you guys got your hands on the recent 2010 VIC Shiraz 95 pointer...missed out myself. :-|
Here's hoping a nice tasty pinot comes along, that is the only way to fix this Fomo!

What would you say is your best purchase from the 'fo?

Reckon that Art of War - The general is pretty special. Otherwise it'd have to be my first order 2 years ago with a mystery purchase. 2008 Yalumba The Menzies, 60% off if I recall correctly. Still got a couple left, showing restraint ;)

So "Art of War The General" is special.
Waiting for the next vinatge.

Can someone who has greater mastery of the search box please tell me what the Margaret River Shiraz secret deal for $17.50 today is? Better still if anyone has tasted it?

the search box is hard to master. I gave up after 20 mins of nothing but failed attempts.

It is however Sandalford Reserve Shiraz. Haven't tried it, am thinking of buying...

So beefarmer, I might need to add some Curchview wines to my cellar.
The Churchview wines, from the St Johns up I guess are simply extremely well made wines and for $10.50 a bottle, a steal. These wines taste like they offer a bit more , a bit of finesse and complexity. The eight per cent Riesling is such a different style and that's what these guys are trying to do I believe. The fo have got a hold of this crowd and promoted them. The fo get a hold of many wineries and give them a lot of exposure. It works both ways. The 3oceans is another great company for me personally. I guess you could add Glenlofty, where quality is evident.

It really is such a simple business model and simple buying procedure with a quality guarantee that you can take advantage of.

Received an email from the fo about my earlier issues with te code for freebee postage. As you'd expect from this crowd, my hassles were easily remedied.....as they always are.

Hello Everyone,

How are you? i am fine.
Hows the weather where you are? The weather is nice here.

So i ordered a collaboration case on the 28th of Aug and received the email saying it's on the way on the 2nd Sep, but it never showed up and the delivery guy never called to arrange delivery, so ten days later i'm checking the site and on my account it says it was delivered on the 3rd Sep. i've emailed them but they haven't replied yet.

is it normal for the site to say stuff been delivered when it hasn't, is it also normal to take over two weeks for a case to be delivered (i'm in Adelaide cbd)?

i'm a little worried about how to prove i never got the case if their system says its been delivered...
Anyone else had stuff go missing? how did you go about getting a replacement etc?

I'm old and new to giving people money over the internet.
ps. you're all great.

I had a case that went missing in transit - never delivered. Rang VM and they were fantastic in their response. Checked with delivery company who stated it was never delivered so was lost somehow. VM credited my account and then credited an extra $9 so delivery was covered on my next order.
