Agree, although cant find anything on the 2014 model and probably why VM says its brand new.

VM puts "brand new" on the wine when it's the first time VM has offered it. Not because the wine itself is new.

In the current edition Halliday Wine Companion the Pertaringa wines are under Wines by Geoff Hardy with 5 red stars, no separate entry for Pertaringa there any more. The web site still has the historical entry.
"Pertaringa was founded in 1980 by highly respected viticulturists Geoff Hardy and Ian Leask. In 2011 Geoff and his family acquired the Leask interest to become the sole custodians of the brand."

No doubt whichever one suits them best at the time.
But if you look at Pertaringa on the Halliday web site, all the latest Tasting Notes from about 2012 vintage are listed as "Wines By Geoff Hardy Pertaringa", so they should use that one for accuracy and for more impressive advertising.

I bought some shiraz - its haselgrove - but not one presently listed on their website - uses some of the better quality grapes as they are not making some of their top of the range stuff because of the year and conditions. Ambassador is made with some of the grapes

Out of curiosity, as this is a 2014 release and from what it sounds like something that may not be standard run of the mill release from haselgrove is that why it hasn't been rated or trophied? Or has the opportunity been and gone and its not worthy?

So, the wife is out tonight, and the top shelf quaffers are calling me to open them. I dismiss:

1. the Hewitson Private Cellar SM 2010 Magnum - too big (liver too small)

2. the Hemera Tier 1 S 2008 - still too scary

3. the Quorum S 2010 - even more scary

4. the Moppity Reserve S 2010 - mm, your next

5. the Hewitson Mother Vine 2013 S - had one last month (very nice. And you are more middle shelf).

So the only other nice quaffer that I haven't placed in the Pool Room (aka hidden the from wife in the cellar!!) is:

6. the Paxton Jones Block 2012 Shiraz.

WHAT A CHOICE - this is the real 97 point deal. It's off the hook good, as the cool kids used to say where I grew up. It tastes like a young grange (lucky enough to try one only two weeks ago for somebody's 60th). I am so glad I got a six pack and got (this one) in the Ace Pack. This will be ridiculous in years to come. I am now going to hunt for more ...

Second best wine to pass my lips this year.

I don't think so, but will no doubt be corrected here if wrong. VM put the 10 in the Ace Pack and have included it in the S 9.0 Pack. Maybe they didn't have enough of the 10 to run its own campaign; or maybe it just didn't beat the others on offer to get its own campaign. Just guesses. But I liked the 10, and gave it a full 3 stars on Vivino:

"Nice cool climate Shiraz, with blackberries leading to hints of mocha, and a dash of spice at the end of the medium palate. Very restrained and drinkable on Day 1, but when it opened up on Day 2, you got that trademark big and juicy Coonawarra mouth fill you would expect. Still more years left in this one."
