Vinomofo Wine Deals

I could guess, and probably guess right. Happy with that, and glad we have you (and indirectly your members) to help with the Fo conundrum. Especially on the hard to crack ones. And glad you only seem to pipe in when we are off track or struggling.

:-)
Most are fairly easy, no reason for me to chime in except on the hard ones.

Jeez, threads are littered with members alluding but not disclosing secrets/codes/etc ... RB is doing nothing out of the ordinary IMO. I'm another that is happy he joined up!

Glad you do!

I remember you and TORB (among others) from the old AUSWINE forum. I haven't been there since the late 90s, when the arrival of kids meant much less spending on wine ...

well, in august I had the cabernet tempy blend 2010 and was very impressed with it. it's my second bot of six, and originally about a year ago, I thought the first was mediocre. But with great family supervision by George and his eight uncles and the young princess fiano , our own princess Fiona a twister sister, it came up really good. the cab gives it great weight with a lovely spice.

for something easier---surely

the bm is the younger 2013....after this '12, it's surely a good thing !

Ah, the good old days when the Bigots ruled. ;-)

And occasional cross-Tasman skirmishes occurred.

I think Gavin was relieved to see us go on to our own things.

They seem to still be rocking along The Auswine Forum • Index page although Star Forum seems to have languished.

Yet here you are... *sigh* please not again.

Yet, here you are expecting someone else to do all the work for you yet offering nothing yourself, please not again.

No one has to disclose anything here, despite your belief you should be spoonfed the deals. RB gives good hints but despite your belief is under no imperative to disclose his sources. If you don't like that, well I'd suggest that's just tough.

Trying it right now (Tomich Hill reserve Pinot)in a big Burgundy glass. A nice balanced, fragrant pinot for $13.50. Lacking the structure and ageing potential for a real "reserve" cuvee. Would buy again...but not at cellar door price of $45.

I'm a tad cynical as the good deals have mostly evaporated.
Plenty of bulk quaffers at good prices, but not much variety in my buying range anymore.

I like your can't wait, lets try it attitude. I too am eager, mine has also arrived. For the price, it's fantastic I guess. You can't get a decent non special for under $25. However, reading the label INFERS that Randal thinks it's better than the i-777.....maybe I am being too literal here but finest, and made for the cellar are certainly mentioned. It will be interesting based on last nights guesswork of a new wine as to how much bulltish factor is involved in this wine game. I have sent them an inquiry about this non mentioned wine....but the proof is in the tasting as always.....sounds like you liked it, but it could have been heavier.....if that's the case, its price infers....theres that word again.....that it slots into second place overall, and makes the i777 deal earlier all that more special......

Just wondering about these "new" wines. Maybe it's another take on VinoMofo collaboration wines.
In this case the winemaker specifically make wines for VinoMofo but using the winemaker's label eg Haselgrove Batch 187, 8 Uncles Tempranillo.
These wines will not be listed/sold in their web sites. Just a thought after a glass of excellent Dolan Langhorne Creek shiraz.

So just getting myself some of the $16 McLaren Vale 2013 Cab Sav Secret Deal... I'm not sure how a 95 point Halliday bottle for under $20 can be a bad thing right?

The comment by GT Goodes (5299) raises an interesting point - just which wine critic should you follow - I personally have found plenty of wines where I have disagreed with Halliday. Both cheap and expensive wines. Eg Remember a Pinot from WA which Halliday gave good wraps on but which I found terrible.( made the mistake of not sending it back - was early days ). I found the guys at the Wine Font to be better for me to assess whether I would like the wine or not. What do others think ?
