Vinomofo Wine Deals

When I first had a quick look it was there but then I was busy with customers and now it's all gone
That was one I happily passed on - tried a bottle earlier this month and while a quality smooth wine indeed - to me it had little 'flavour'. Then again I was weaned on Robust Rutherglen / Goulburn Valley type produce ...

it's definitely not the J&J Rivers Lane Premium Shiraz 2010. Several things wrong, including the alcohol content.

Yeah, bit too much of a guess, jumped the gun a bit with it. Has anyone bought it?

Meanwhile, just received a box of Gemtree Uncut Shiraz 2012 (mystery McLaren Vale shiraz, $25 down to $12.50, 95 points Jimmy Halliday), very happy with that addition to my collection :) Saw it at D Murph's for $18 a bottle so a decent little saving there!

Whilst the Gemtree Uncut is a pretty good deal, I've actually bought it for less than $10 a bottle from Dan's! Only a couple of months ago too. Dan's have started doing two for one deals on their receipts - most of the time it's just Sav Blanc which I have no interest in, but occasionally they do some good reds. A couple of weeks ago, it was Gemtree Dragon's Blood, which is not quite as good as Uncut, but was only $8 a bottle.

I have bought a few cases from VM though - a case of Rose sitting waiting for warmer weather, a case of Riesling (long ago finished) and a half case of Chardonnay, which I didn't really enjoy. Must buy some more from VM!

Wow, some really good deals. I should keep a close eye on Dan Murphy's, I know every now and then they have deals that put even Vinomofo's to shame! I see they're struggling to move the Seppelt St Peters. Probably because you can get it cheaper at D Murphs...

Fair price for the Gemtree. But it is often available for under $10. You should be aware that different Gemtree varieties are often available at 70% or more off the RRP. It's a very heavily discounted brand.

Dr Ralph, the Seppelt St Peters is about $46 at D Murphs and $55 on mof_s. Also, I picked up some '06 chalambar for around the same price as the' '10 mof_s were selling. That was around EOFY though, when they do their sales. Apart from that, I haven't spotted any, but my friends assure me that from time to time they pop up. Just gotta keep checking their website.

Would you mind disclosing where Gemtree Uncut is often available for under $10? The $10 Dan's deal I posted above is the first time I've seen it that cheap!

Several places, including direct in store at Kemenys. Most recently via CRACKA (Direct email). But these aren't isolated examples.

Right now the Sacredtree by Gemtree Masterpiece Shiraz 2013 is $8.25 a bottle via CRACKA. The RRP is $22.

Are you sure you mean the 2010 Chalambar? In the last few months Vinomofo have had the 2012 version, not the 2010 (Seppelt Chalambar Shiraz 2012 - Red Wine ).

As for the 2006, this is likely to be unique to the store you visited, rather than DM wide. The 2006 is listed on the DM web site as $23.90 a bottle. The current, 2012, is $21.99. This makes the Vinomofo deal reasonable as from memory it was around $17.50 a bottle. Chalambar is a solid wine. Always scores highly and guaranteed to cellar for at least a decade.

The mof_ SECRET DEAL Shiraz Cabernet 2009 listed today for $38 a bottle and described as:

"Get ready to sit down... an iconic producer has agreed to share their flagship wine with us (and you) at 60% off. This wine is the top example of what all of their other wines aspire to be, their pride and joy, their baby. An up and coming icon for SA too, all richness and balance. And at this price, this is well and truly a Vinomofo exclusive. Made by an iconic SA winery, this is a super-premium flagship red that would sit proudly in any wine lover's trophy room, easily the talking point of any dinner conversation. Powerful and concentrated, this wine doesn't ask for your approval, it commands you to drink it. Loaded with dark black fruits, olive tapenade and creamy chocolate, it's opulent, luscious and lingering. Thankfully, unlike some of the more interesting tasting notes we've been reading on Facebook from you mof_s, this has no "hint of shame" or "spiced nuance of nostalgia". No no, this is the aroma of picking up the phone on the fifth ring of the Channel 7 Cash Cow (I imagine), mixed with the flavour of vindication in the moment Joffrey finally carked it in Game of Thrones, and the balancing force of watching puppy videos on Youtube. Suffice to say, each time you crack this it's a complex and magnificiently joyful ocassion. This is a big wine, kind of a big deal (yes, Ron Burgundy has this on his mahogony bookshelf) and an even bigger secret. Get your hands on it now."

Is very likely the 2009 K1 by Geoff Hardy Tzimmukin Shiraz Cabernet.

Great price. Geoff Hardy wines are always quality.

Just purchased 2 cases.

Kemenys currently showing Gemtree Uncut for $16.75 a bottle with a free case Pilsner Urquell when you buy a case. Good price, but a far cry from $10 or $12.50 and when you add delivery, not much better than Dan's (excluding beer, which is not really of interest).

Cracka currently showing Sacredtree Masterpiece as unavailable.

Would you mind clarifying further?

Peter Lehmann Drawcard Shiraz 2010 was $11 per bottle via a 2-for-1 docket deal earlier this year. How's that for an example? ;)

Thanks! I was trying to remember that one, but it wasn't coming to me! Decent wine at $11, but not great value for $22! That and the two Gemtree offers I quoted above have been the stand outs for me.

Have you tried (or been able to get hold of) their current two for one - Serafino Sorrento Shiraz?

Made purchase in store at Kemenys last month. Kemenys frequently has great offers in stores that it doesn't list on its website.

Received email from CRACKA on 14/8/14 for the Gemtree and didn't purchase:

"s a result we've been working extra-hard, scouring the vineyards of Australia looking for the very best thing to grab your attention. And then we got a call from our friends at 5 star rated Gemtree in McLaren Vale, about an export order that never made the boat...It’s the Sacredtree by Gemtree Masterpiece Shiraz 2013 - a luscious, generous South Australian Shiraz that sells for $22 around the world and we normally sell for $16.50...score it for $99/dozen ($8.25/bottle)!"

It was obviously a good deal and sold quickly.

I can't clarify any further, but I do suggest that you keep your eyes open and act quickly!
