Vinomofo Wine Deals

Hey guys, first time poster. I'm going to take a stab at the 2010 Shiraz from SA and say it's the J&J Rivers Lane Premium Shiraz 2010. It's a boutique producer, single vineyard (estate grown) and the price fits. Can't find particulars about the alcohol content though. Also, the tasting notes seem to match.

Am pretty sure the wineries dont really want their wines identified (at least not easily), thats why they are "secret" deals.

It's not about them trying to make it easy or hard to identify the black market wines. It's about providing correct and accurate information. In this instance the information provided on the Hewitson website was wrong. That is, it doesn't match the information on the bottle. I've contacted Hewitson by email and asked them to correct the information.

I'm tempted to jump on it but fear it could be GISA (which is nice but want to try something new) again.

Sorry, what is GISA? I'm considering picking up a dozen of these. All the wine we have in the house is powerful Shiraz and I want something easier to drink. Worth it if it is the (mysterious) GISA?

Very hard to guess with the limited amount of information provided (not even any scores provided - which makes me very concerned about the quality of this wine) but it's definitely not the J&J Rivers Lane Premium Shiraz 2010. Several things wrong, including the alcohol content.

K1 by geoff hardy pinot? Cant find specs on the 2011 but matches the 2012 for price and alc. And they have run the k1 cabernet recently

Any hints about the black market pinot noir today? $10.50 down from (probably inflated) RRP $35. Adelaide hills and 5 star Halliday winery.

i was thinking/hoping 2011 Ashton Hills Piccadilly Valley Pinot Noir but surely they would have publicised Halliday's 92 if it was?

never tried the pv but the reserve is one of the best and a favourite of mine :)

edit: actually the pv might not be single-vineyard unlike the estate and reserve

As a newbi to this forum I was just wondering if the $7-$11 wines are really $7-$11 wines or do they generally punch above their weight?

Some of the deals seem very enticing....

Any thoughts appreciated.

Let's just say you won't buy from stores/supermarkets very often once you get started! :)

If new to it, go for the wines with high rating points that fit in your budget. You'll then get a good idea of whether you think it's good value. Right now there's a 94 point Pinor Noir and some 93 point shiraz - might be a good start.

Anyone any idea what the Shiraz is?

There are four... you might need to be more particular.

The 2010 Heathcote Shiraz for $7.50 is Munari The Beauregard.

It all comes down to personal taste I suppose, but from my (limited) experience, they are certainly better than $7-$11 wines you would get from the bottle shop. Would I pay the full RRP of $25-$35 they quote? In most cases no, but they're good enough table wines.
