Vinomofo Wine Deals

Hmm - interesting - let me look further when I get back to my computer. It's the only 92pt 2012 merlot from Eden Valley I can find in Wine Companion. Must be another one that's hiding somewhere :)

Edit: See post #5852 by The Director. Seems to be Irvine - maybe The Director can confirm if this is the same? I'm guessing the Estate Merlot

I spoke to the broker yesterday before today's bargains and asked about a different merlot I had purchased as a mystery on Winemarket some years ago ( it was a good drop at a great price)- she then said they had the Irvine Merlot in stock - as I haven't tried it I asked if anyone else on this thread had - to date no responses from anyone that they had - I believe it is the Irvine that is being sold but cannot guarantee 100%.

I'm having a hell of a time getting any response from VM for a return (it's the first case I've needed to send back to them). So far since last Friday I've sent two emails and made one phone call and nothing seems to be happening - is this to be expected with VM returns? Incidentally, the wine in question is the 2012 Belgravia Cab-Sav.

Sorry to hear that, Kincho. I have luckily only made one return so far, and it was handled very efficiently. That was back in March 2015 - the Nannup Ridge Firetower Shiraz 2011. I think they are experiencing middle-growth pains at the moment. I suspect you will get quicker service by phoning them.

Thanks for sharing the wine as well. What didn't you like?

Re: Vinomofo Wine Deals - Ulithorne Familia

Hi all, first post from new member here, enjoying the general discussion and banter. Whilst not usually a big fan of shiraz, I took a chance on the Ulithorne Familia, which arrived yesterday. Opened as a clean, fresh style, with good varietal character. Rather elegant palate, not big, rich or plummy. I would not have bought at CD for $40, but at $12 from VM, a bargain!
Thanks for the ID, I shall do my best to contribute.

Welcome aboard RM1946 - good to see your 1st post is in arguably the most important thread ha ha!!!

My return was requested by email and was promptly organised although the pickup took a while.
Maybe success is impinging on the service

Is the Merlot you are referring to from Winemarket a couple of years ago The Roger Harbord Coonawarra Merlot, possibly the 2010 model? If it was, you know how stunning that wine was, so full of depth, flavour and an incredible fullness, a ridiculous price at the time.

The wine certainly has plenty of chocolate characteristics but without balancing tannins and mint notes the chocolate is a bit over the top. Suspect there's a bit too much antioxidant present as it's heady hangover material as well.

Hi Beefarmer - never tried the Roger Harbord -they had the Bird in The Hand Merlot - usually $35 but as a mystery $66 for a sixpack - very good wine -It was about 2009/2010 vintages - had 1 sixpack one year and then shared a sixpack the next. This was in the days winemarket had some great deals.

Re: Black Market Pinot Noir 2010 $50 down to $15 Yarra Valley

Mine is finally in transit - and for some reason isn't expected to arrive until the 23rd. Maybe for some further bottling time...

Mine is still "picking"...

Waiting for that first Mea Culpa review... aaaaaand... go.

I had it at a wine festival earlier in the year. It's a cool-climate styled shiraz and the first thing I noticed was the tannins + leafy-green vegetable flavours from the 85% whole bunch. The whole bunch flavour is quite distinct and might not be everyone's cup of tea. I personally liked the difference as it made it a little more unique compared to some other shiraz's (Moorooduc Estate makes a 100% whole bunch Shiraz if anyone wants to try something from the extreme end), but my friend thought it was too much and unbalanced the wine for his palate.

Gee willikers, first the Krug and the high rollers Pinot Noir now the Penfolds deal.

I think i may need some sort of support group because my wallet is hiding in the corner gentle weeping.

You can get the exact same mix of Penfolds from Dan Murphys for $377, and that's before the usual 12+% off (which brings it down to $332). That's >$100 cheaper than VM...

How do you get the extra 5%, AC? I've got the 7.39% (or whatever the figure is) from PricePal (thanks to the excellent upgrade tip I got last week). How do you get the additional 5% through the same purchase? PM me if the answer is not for public consumption. Many thanks in advance.

Go via Cash Rewards or similar and you can buy a Woolworths eGift Card for 5% off. No rebate/waiting period - just pay $95 for a $100 gift card that gets emailed to you in a few hours.

Mine is also in transit...but again appears stuck in Werribee. Not expected to arrive until Thursday the 22nd. They must be walking it here
Yea, same here, shows 22nd on VM's page, but tracking from Nexday's page, it shows to be delivered tomorrow (16th). :D
