Vinomofo Wine Deals

I took a punt on the 93 point Shiraz yesterday. Interesting to see what I end up with.

Wine received yesterday. 2012 sixfootsix Shiraz. $25 at cellar door, $7.50 + delivery mof_ price.
Not yet tasted, tonight perhaps. Have sold off a couple so will be interesting to hear other opinions.

Anybody here tried this wine?
I have never had a sixfootsix of anything before nor have I heard of the winery - Austins Winery.

I haven't tried the shiraz, but given the region (Geelong), expect typical cool climate medium bodied spicy style.

Austin's make some great wine - really liked their riesling a few years ago, but haven't seen it recent times.

Funnily enough, I received an e-mail from them yesterday, offering unlabelled wine for $80 a case from the winery next weekend.

Picture has SFS Pinot & Shiraz & Austins Pinot & Shiraz, with JH ratings of 94, 93, 94 & 92 respectively.

They seem to be trying to get rid of a lot of wine at the moment!

Has anyone tried the 2011 Warners Glen Chardonnay?

Yes...in May. Notes were:
Warner Glen (Margaret River) 2011: Lemon in colour, mellow oak accompanying the peach and nectarine. Possibly riper fruit than the previous wine. Very integrated fruit and oak and lower acid. The fruit was quite generous and fleshy, and the wine showed a good length.

Does that mean - Good or Bad?

Not trying to be a smart cough - I'm more of a Yes or No type of drinker.

Had the six foot six 2012 Shiraz tonight with a prawn pizza w pineapple and pesto. Really enjoyed the wine. Found it to be a nice medium body, fruity Shiraz. Easy drinking, one I could enjoy in the warmer months unlike some of those big gutsy types.
Certainly don't regret the purchase at $7.50 + delivery.

Wine received yesterday. 2012 sixfootsix Shiraz.

They've been selling their Pinot Noir for a long time (94 points, $7.50 so easy to sell). It was well received. Sounds like the Shiraz has similar comments to the pinot - lighter than most, smooth, easy to drink.

GMH is on the site today. Pretty sure it's been listed before - any comments on it? I wasn't expected it to be listed as medium-bodied. And 14.8% alc - wowsers!

I liked the wine. Doesn't mean anyone else will though. To add to that I thought it was a well made quality wine in the style of Chardonnay I enjoy.

How much do they want for this wine? Sub $20? Value for money in my opinion then. Its a drink now or over the next couple of years wine. Wouldn't be purchasing it to cellar medium term though.

This is definitely an oaked Chardonnay...so if you don't like oak in your whites, don't bother. If you do, its rather well balanced and I think you should enjoy it.

I liked your post but I feel a more personal - thank you is in order! Cheers

Thanks for the detailed response - very helpful in deciding whether it is a style we would like and a case is now on the way.

Any feedback on the Neagles Rock Clare Valley Shiraz 2010?

Neagles Rock Clare Valley Shiraz 2010 - Red Wine

A quick Google search shows they have offered it before..

I wonder if the Hand Crafted by Geoff Hardy GMH Shiraz 2012 is any different (94 points to the 93 Neagles Rock), price is more or less the same.

Hand Crafted by Geoff Hardy GMH Shiraz 2012 - Red Wine

A few of the comments here seem to indicate that other Geoff Hardy offerings are quite good...

I am curious about these two as well!
