Vinomofo Wine Deals

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

I tried the Mitolo Cantiniere 2013 tonight, and rather enjoyed it. I didn't find it to be a poor 'fo deal - it had good fruit, length, body and balance. Some seem to have some expertise on reliably judging the price point of a wine and I admit I don't have a really good sense of that, but I found it quite classy with no rough edges, and a good McLV shiraz. I've also jumped on the savitar. The only problem is, with all these deals, the 'fo demands the development of self-restraint, or, a very large cellar.

Eight posts in and such restraint and sensibility showing already. Or are you down to the bank manager to borrow for an airconditioned underground cellar?

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

I noticed that they have re-released the bayliss road willunga shiraz... I got it in a mixed pack and it was head and shoulders, one of the worst wines i hve ever tasted. Do not buy! It was like drinking grape juice and metho... I am losing all faith in vinomofo.

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

And my 'broker' hasn't contacted me in months... He obviously knows that there is nothing worth selling! Thinking of getting some more mother vine...

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

I'm guessing that the $8 Italian Red Blend is the Chalmers Montevecchio Rosso, has anyone tried this?

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

What about this other Pinot?

Has it been on before? I suck so bad at the search option on this site...

I got the previous vintage which is quite savoury and interesting with a bit of a pongy nose. I gave one to my father in law who tipped it down the drain after smelling it because he thought it was off, didnt even taste it. I thought it was decent but not my style, it will not be for everyone especially those raised on barossa shiraz.

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

Cheers, I don't mind a half decent Chianti, but this one sounds like a bit of a risk.

Well the ekhidna is $19.95 not $40 and the Yangarra is $28

No idea. But was disappointed when I checked the URL and noticed this:

'I COULD BE on your doorstep by Thu 19th Nov'

With a suggested 'could be' being at least 10 days delivery time, this is just unacceptable.

Could it be Rosemount? Just a wild guess, haven't had a chance to check details.

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

I would be extremely surprised to see Yangarra selling their GSM through a black market deal. That stuff moves quickly enough at RRP. But one can dream :)

That would have been my initial guess, but there's no matching review on Halliday's site, or anything on the Rosemount site.

Edit: Rosemount is also a 5 red star producer, though VM have sometimes got that part mixed up.

Edit2: Haselgrove Switch is RRP $40, but no mention of 2014 vintage anywhere.
