Vinomofo Wine Deals

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

,

Firstly hi to all, I'd say it looks like the By Geoff Hardy Pertaringa Regional Series 2014 . Can't get tasting notes to load so skanty at best but he has 160yrs behind the family and he's north at MCLAren Vale. Happy to be corrected...cheers

Thanks, Whodoesthat. It looks a good call. Plenty of Geoff Hardy wines on the 'fo before now, right price, right location. Bit of a stretch re the 160 years (Thomas Hardy established in the 1880s, but was making wine before that), but can't really hold that against them. $10.50 looks good value, but impossible to get independent reviews. Still, what's the worst thing that can happen?

Balnaves has been "associated with the district since 1855" so that time frame matches, and their Cabernet is $35, but its a 2011...

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

If it were Balnaves I think they'd be making far more of a song & dance about then producer.

I agree, its just interesting that two of the dots join up, but not the rest. I love a Coonawarra cabernet so I'm very curious but not willing to bite at the unknown.

i was thinking that - I got a case last year of similar description and that's what it was. Pretty good for the price, but I see its about $17 at Dans

Well I have bit. I will confirm what it is when it turns up "by Monday 21st December".

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

The main wine from Vinomofo / Kinda Independant Wine Co which I rate is the Gusto Mama Sangiovese. I've had quite a bit of the 2012 and it is a good example of the variety. It goes extremely well with food, especially Pizza, and for $15 it is "reasonably" priced for everyday drinking.

The Orgy, and Art of War were both okay, but not sure they are $15 territory (maybe closer to $10 in a case).

I tried the Deus Ex Liquida Grenache Shiraz at an event and it was nice, but not sure it was worth $30... But for ~$15 I would certainly recommend.

I agree with you about the Gusto Mama. It's pretty nice drinking at the price point.

Chardy arrived today and it's the Witchmount Olivia's Paddock 2013

What's your opinion of this wine? Apparently it received a Gold and won the Arc International Trophy for best Chardonnay (Open Class) at the Le 25th Concours des Vin de Victoria. Decent Vivino score also.

I'd be happy if they sent me a free case of wine to thank me for my loyalty and numerous referrals. And witty references to wines (who's dat? In da park?!)

BAM, challenge is on you VM!

LOL +1

Where's my free stuff :p

I am probably one of their most profitable customers :p

Probably Penley Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, given we've had a number of penley deals recently.

Re: Vinomofo secret wine deals

I promised to let you know once I cracked a bottle of the 2012 Thousand Candles, which I did on Saturday evening. Now I'm writing this a few days later, so might not have the detail it could have, but it will give you an idea. I drank this with the better half and a couple of friends and we all had very similar opinions. The nose was very intriguing, which isn't surprising given the blend, but was definitely enjoyable and improved with time. The palate on first sip seemed very easy drinking almost to its detriment and I was already thinking of the returns policy, but as it warmed and opened up a bit it started to display much more pleasing characteristics. The fruit really started bursting through and with a good hint of shiraz pepper it was all smooth as silk. The finish was long and comforting. By the end of the bottle all of us were screaming out for more! Is it worth $100 RRP? Maybe not, but I'd pay the $49 from VM again any day of the week. Something different without being so far removed from what you know to seem completely foreign.
