Vinomofo Wine Deals

Tomich Hill aren't a 5 Star winery, and this was the previous ad for the reserve: https://vinomofo.com/wines/white-wine/black-market-deal-chardonnay-2015-120116 (Boutique Producer, Single vineyard etc.)

Edit: though the seem to claim they are a 5 Star winery on their website, and the 2015 Wine Companion has them at 5 Stars (I don't have the 2016 handy - maybe they got downgraded? or maybe the Wine Companion website is out of date)

The price discount matches the previous offer ($45 -> $13.50)

I thought it was Tomich Hill as well, as I would like some more. I was talking with Kate this afternoon and asked her if this chardonnay was one I had ordered before, but she said that it definitely was not. but was talking to Kate this afternoon about something else and she said that it was not. The last listing for the Tomich Hill reserve mentioned that it was a Reserve Chardonnay and used words like citrus juices, bright green apples and chalky minerality so definitely not the Tomich.

I would be interested to know what it is though....

Had to look back, but basing this on post #5171. While it was a pinot, the conjecture was all the same (e.g. masters of wine?, 5 star producer?). This turned out to be Tomich I believe (post #5321, #5324).

Unfortunately the fo link wasn't refernced.

Wouldn't be the first time the fo doesn't have all the details correct.

Well, that does seem to tick the boxes: Giles Cooke MW, Fergal Tynan MW, Peter Leske
This Thistledown crowd had their two roads Shiraz up late last year. Using peter leske, a well respected winemaker, these poms are trying something a little different. And from last years fo purchased case, you can certainly taste it in their Shiraz 2014 which from memory, was a reasonably good wine with added complexity. They talk of making it as a 'with food' style, and I do remember having some pre steak and some with steak and actually 'got' what they are trying to do. Sounds simplistic I know but the enhanced flavours of that wine with food did make me remember their ideals and thoughts.

Now, if it;s one of those 'winemakers reserve' tomich specials, I think I will get sued if I make my true feelings felt so best not. And to think I had the I-777 pinot in my top 5 wines of 2015. So they can make some great product.

If it's a thistledown chardonnay, I reckon it will be a good 'un and possibly a little different to convention.

Wozza the lawyer would like the fact that the poms are showing us aussies ( well, wozza the ozzie for about 5 weeks now ) how to do something quite well. Contrast this with the law firm Slater and Gordon's foray into London. A disaster much worse that a Black Market marauding Mitolo masquerading as manna from heaven from the fo offices in Melbourne.

Latest Vinomofo offering 17 wines and all secret.

Is this the way wine sales will be held in the future ? Am I missing something here ?

Looks like the Ulithorne Dona GSM is back available.

I ordered two cases of that back in November and it's a fantastic wine, I think I still have 8 or so bottle left.

If I hadn't just bought enough wine to drown an army I would defiantly be purchasing again.

I'm actually a little bit pissed off at my broker, twice I rang and asked if there was any left, and twice they told me there was none left so there was an alert on my profile for when it was restocked...no alert received, and makes me wonder if they just tell people there is none left so they can push it when they want to.

No, it's just the "angle" of their marketing email for today. Sometimes it's "huge range", sometimes it's "secret deals", etc.

If you go to "all deals" you can see their still selling plenty of non-secret stuff.

I ordered Sunday night, received this morning. Used Parcelpoint pick up, seems the extra $2.50 is worth it.

Last time I checked (I think it was with epiQure) my closest parcelpoint location was in Victoria

Do couriers and AP use the same network of parcelpoint's?

ParcelPoint is a commercial venture separate to Australia Post's Parcel Lockers. A lot of ParcelPoint locations are places like newsagents etc - they don't have lockers or anything. AP Parcel Locker is physical lockers that you get a code to unlock when your parcel's there.

Thanks AC - I will do some research - I currently have wine delivered to work and my staff seem to think I am interested in their opinions on how often a case turns up

Also, AP don't allow alcohol deliveries to their Parcel Locker service in their ToS. Don't know whether they enforce that or not. The only people who can deliver to AP Parcel Lockers are currently Australia Post and Star Track.

Couriers probably all can deliver to Parcel Point, but VM makes it easier as they do the back-end booking of a delivery to PP (and collect the $1.90 from you). Your other option (I think - just from research), if the seller isn't integrated into PP, is you need to book a delivery to PP yourself via the PP website, and then when you buy online, you put c/- Parcelpoint in the address.

I've just had a look on the PP site and the closest collection point isn't very close, and it is in the other direction to home from work. I will stay with the current mof_ next day deliveries for the moment and recheck in 6 months or so

That vertical Tahblik Marsanne has finally showed up (via VIM email). $99 for 2010-2015 inclusive.

Sounds very interesting ... Shame I'm not a VIM.

On another subject, does anyone know if there's a time limit on returns to VM?

I thought it was 12 months but I can't see a time reference anywhere- just this

I have also wondered how much of the case you need to return...

I got that Better Half Pinot which I really don't like, but it took me 4 bottles to realise I hated it, as I gave a few of them out at dinners etc. So I have half a case left which I will probably never drink. Do they refund based on the price per bottle returned?
