It has to be doesn't it !!
However, can it be that good, or are some of these golds from commercial entries?
Ask yourself the question - how can so many judges, from so many competitions from so many countries be wrong ?
Ahhh, Don't Think outside The Circle though.

Cameron Douglas
Lifted fruity and floral bouquet with cherry and raspberry red fruits. Love the palate feel and length. Fine tannins. This is a really smart wine. With the food the wine becomes a little raspberry sweet but it doesn’t detract from the core of what this wine is.
Ken Dobler
An outstanding bright crimson colour. Attractive plummy aromas on the nose. The palate has enough fruit weight to carry the tannic backbone. The refined primary fruit and exceptional length looked really attractive with food.
Stuart Halliday
Full bodied and structured. Chewy on the palate. Can’t really see the Viognier there in the wine. It didn’t bring anything obvious to it so maybe that’s a good thing. The food brought the lovely white pepper and spice out in the wine and gave it good length.
Bryan Currie
Light red colour. Lifted florals and bruised raspberry nose. Toasty vanillin oak on the palate. The oak dominated the palate and the food.
Sue Bastian
A mid ruby colour with a bright purple rim. Plum jam with some floral notes on the nose. Sweet berries fruits on the palate. Quite jube like and luscious but then some dusty and drying tannins. The sweet fruits in the wine dominated this gorgeous meal.
Neil Hadley
This wine is fairly perfumed on the nose with a youthful plummy fruit character and attractive brightness. It has a full ripe palate with a silken softness to the underlying tannins but a slight sweetness on its finish.
Mark Robertson
The aroma is mocha lolly and almost confected. It has a cloying varietal Viognier finish on the palate. It’s almost overdone. The palate is redeemed with a great tannin presence. It’s grainy lengthy tarry and svelte but with food it’s simple and the acid was too dominant as it turned out.
to confuse me and everyone else, I just noticed that the Fo quote the 2015 Sydney blue/gold.....whereas the above info seems to be from 2014.
if that's the case, another year of breathing sounds just what it needed, reading between the lines. nevertheless, I do like the food matching Sydney show as a rough guide.
I just had a 2008 Smith and Hooper wrattonbully cab blend last week, one of ample I have and it was drinking beautifully. Similar area, feels good, BOOM.
