Vinomofo Wine Deals

OK AC I get it, but I would probably give 80-85, I'm a harsh marker! I worked out the 2014 Shiraz by looking at HH's site but couldn't get my hand to the buzzer as they say, I seem to recall fairly mixed reviews from FF members is that the case?

I sent the 2013 Golden Lion back, thought it was way out of balance.
I kept the 2014 Golden Lion, much happier with it, quite reasonable drinking for $15 and will probably cellar a while if you want.

Anyone got a clue about the Waipara pinot on sale today?
https://vinomofo.com/wines/red-wine/black-market-pinot-noir-2013

The blurb at the bottom mentions Greystone specifically but they don't do a $30 pinot as far as I can see, and the source of the grapes doesn't match either:

"Approximately 50 % of the grapes came from two Waipara Vineyards, Maggie and Kym Rayner's Home Block and The McKenzie Weka Terraces Vineyard. The other 50% were from Briggs and Welham's North Canterbury Vineyards some 40 km SW of Waipara. This wine is drinking beautifully now, but will cellar well for another 3-5 years."

Looks to me like Torlesse :

That's what I thought too, and with a $25 credit in the bank I went boom.

I reached the same conclusion as you after poking around earlier today - Torlesse. The alcohol was .5% off, but a lot of the VM ad was well in line with the Torlesse website.

If you can justify nearly $40 the Mayford Tempranillo is fantastic.

+1

I'm looking forward to [post=1483843]Willow Bridge[/post]'s tonight :)

So as to not stray off-topic, I've mentioned a couple of tempranillo deals in the [post=1488539]Dan's thread[/post]

It's been interesting waiting for Nexday to come pick the wines up - got a text on Sunday arvo saying they will pick them up before 9am on Monday. When I got out of the house on Monday at 7, they've already carded me saying they were here...

I've been constantly calling them in the last few days begging them to come pick them up :(

Well mini2 that's been my experience too to be honest, a bit inconsistent and lackadaisical. I'm still waiting for the Little Berries to be picked up having called VM again on Monday to to put a rocket up the courier's a$#e, in this case it's Nexday's affiliated company Tasfreight but still....

Nexday are pretty hopeless with deliveries too...I am waiting on a case from them, they tired to deliver it on Monday to the Parcel Point, but said that nobody was there to drop it off...keep in mind it was 2pm and delivering to a large chain Chemist...reading between the lines, there was nowhere to park and the driver couldn't be bothered.

That's a sad indictment gh, has Vinomofo's meteoric rise to power been too much for it's designated freight company? As far as delivery versus pick-up goes I have found that it takes longer on average to have my VM wine dropped off to my home address than with other on-line merchants (but then living in Tasmania I'm used to being held to ransom in these matters!)

I must be lucky I have had no problems with Nexday and the same driver delivers my Langtons wines as well. I would say its a driver issue. Credit where credit is due. It must be said I have mine delivered to a residential address with a stipulation if no one is home please leave at front door. The driver i get delivers up to 9pm and on weekends if necessary. Cheers

I think in my case it's Tasfreight not Nexday that are the issue, the last carton I sent back had been sitting around for so long in my "cellar" (actually the woodshed under the house) and damp had totalled the bottom unbeknownst to me. I got the call that they were coming to collect out of nowhere and had to hastily offload the wine into another box I had sitting around and tape the whole thing up securely with duct tape before the driver rocked up-bit stressful!

Guessing the new Contraband Cabernet from Coonawarra is Parker. 92pts from HH. At $8.90 a bottle, that's a multiple boom from me!

Well on HH site it indicates the Common Ground as rrp $20, where as the Parker is $24?

The price matches for Parker, but the alcohol content and HH score don't. I'd also expect Vinomofo to cite the other critics scores for the 2013 Parker (93 Halliday, 94 Chris Shanahan, etc)

Parker Coonawarra Estate - Products - 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon

(info for the 2013 and 2014 are here).

So - I'm confident it isn't the Parker Estate 2013.

Yeah, the RRP is out. HH might have the price at $20, but Wine Front has the price at $22. Can't see the wine on the winery's site, so no idea what the real RRP is...

HH score for the 2013 Parker is 93, not 92. (according to Parker site)

Also, VM seem to have left the name of the wine in the URL :)

Lastly, Parker is one of the biggest-name wineries in the country. I'd see VM hyping the name far more than they are, including highlighting the Red 5 Stars etc. (Like they do with Brokenwood, Wolf Blass, Wynns etc.)

I didn't check the score. Funny, they say 'you'd pay $24' Cant find it anywhere for $24. Sneaky, deceiving buggers. Still happy with having a couple of cases on the way :)
