Quite right too. Why bother with stemware with cheap wine.

My views on the Ulithorne are on record but I would have to reiterate that on first tasting it was cough and on subsequent tasting it was still cough and if I had paid the RRP of $40 I would have been more than mildly upset (to say nothing of ordering it in a restaurant where it would probably have come to the table freshly de-stelvined and un-decanted), sorry unconvinced....(not that I'm having a shot at you TW!)

All the discussion about this wine is tempting me to crack my one bottle of it. I'm gonna wait until its at least a two year old first though before downing it in one, straight out of the bottle.

Any ideas on todays 2013 Tasmanian Pinot Noir?

https://vinomofo.com/wines/red-wine/mof_-secret-deal-pinot-noir-2013-deal

I was thinking it might be Dalrymple Single Site Bicheno Pinot Noir. The price is close $61 vs $60 on VM and the acid is close at 14% vs 13.8% on VM. However I don't think VM have offered this before and it isn't listed as a new offering.

Have had the Handpicked Tassie Pinot before. Not a fan, there are much better Pinot available from Mornington, Yarra Valley and Adelaide Hills that are much better and around the same price if you know where to look. Not sure how it got 96pts from Halliday either. Looks to be another "generous score" IMHO

Yes, I'm not quite as interested if it's the Handpicked.

Perhaps consider decanting it into a cask first. The tap can be handy for horizontal drinking.

[h=1]Richardson Cabernet Sauvignon[/h]anybody tried?

Hello everyone,

First post from me.
I was wondering if anyone has tried the Blue Pyrenees Richardson Cabernet, and if so, what were your thoughts?

I've tried the Estate Red and found it quite enjoyable.

Cheers

Hi Fusilli Jerry

I adore Dalwhinnie Pyrenees Cab so thought i'd take the leap of faith with the Richardson when it was initially offered. mof_ take back most of what you don't like so end of the day no harm no foul. Have to say i was more than pleasantly surprised and while not in the same pantheon as Dalwhinnie certainly better than most at $19. I also bought the Estate Red and while the Richardson doesn't have as much bling i found it more enjoyable to be honest.

Cheers

PS great episode of Seinfeld.

Thank you for being the voice of reason, steeling my resolve to not buy.
I'm going to not buy, wait for others to receive and review, then kick myself when it's wonderful and VM have run out and it doesn't come back.

Just. Like. Last. Time.

I'm surprised at the amount of reservation with the F+H...since a lot of new stuff VM flogs is unknown, and seems as though it's been a lot more 'miss' than 'hit' this year judging by the feedback from the more frequent purchasers. When a new vintage comes along of what was a consensus top bargain buy last year (I recall many people had it in their top 3 for sub $10 buys), it's a no brainer.

There is precedence from the likes of Glenlofty and Maverick Twins. Likewise, when I see Amelia stop by, there will be no hesitation.

If it's ****, then back it will go, but I'd much rather roll the dice on a new vintage of a previous stud than try to pull a rabbit out of the hat with all of the random **** on offer.

Well said Whining&dining my views are on record as well. Cheers

I would boom on this if I was buying at the moment, but I am on a self imposed break from purchases at the moment before my holiday.

My thoughts exactly. I should be able to sample it Monday night.

We all need friends to go fiddy fiddy.

Same thing has just happened with the Driftwood Cab Sav, came home tonight and there it was cluttering up my vestibule (I've had a sip but not prepared to do a proper show and tell à la Wozza at this stage)

I think this is a Whinganddining quote from a few days ago, but I would love a report on this one. I really loved their 2009 Semillon that I picked up thru winemarket a while back but have not had any of their reds.
