Vinomofo Wine Deals

I feel for you. I was just re-reading my april notes for the FH shiraz and at least I can take heart that I have many left. contrast the following notes with what we both, and others tasted. Fortunately for some, they like it and good luck to them. But to you and I, our money will then be spent on other morsels. so the '13 shiraz - smooth, great ruby, deep plums, hints of oak, lingering with dry powdery tannins, beautifully integrated. be thankful for the returns policy.

I was looking at the beechworth merlot down from 55, which I assume is the starlane. I still have a six pack of the 2010 merlot, untried so wont be doing anything about it BUT I loved their shiraz in july. really classy wine.

of visiting the hospital very soon but was tempted by some wine glasses of all things. schott zwisel classic burgundy at danny m. 26 the pair. so will explore. have some already for whites and they are lovely. this time the buckets. so let's see what they are like. I need a little distracting at the moment.

I got a bottle of the "10 Star Lane Merlot in a mixed pack and thought it was excellent. Decanted for one hour and it was a beautifully smooth and complex Merlot. Wish I had more....

I'd rather just have your 2010 please?
Would clear a space in your cellar for that nice young 2014?
we shall do a 3 swap at Holbrook ?

even better, drink one, two, three of each on the deck of that dirty big black sub whilst watching the sun go down.

In a town where I was born,
Lived a man whose name was pete.
And he told us of his life
In the land of yellow and green.

So we sailed up to see his Mum,
Till we found where she had been.
And we spliffed beneath the waves,
In our dirty big black submarine.

We all live in a shiny black submarine,
Black submarine, black submarine.
We all would like to live in a new French to-be built submarine,
because the times we would have would be the best anyone's ever seen.

Which leads me to ponder what if I had said to be at Goulbourn?
I would rather not think about it.

The Star Lane website says RRP $50 for the Merlot.
AC....I have a problem. I never did any due diligence on this one, one I don't want to buy BUT, a spanner has been thrown in the works by an astute, compared to WD who's hirsute, Wine hunter.

Now there's a challenge that I will be persuing myself after lasagne , the squitchy Lane 2012 pinot finally.

A lesson here - don't assume. Well done WH

Any ideas on the VIM after dark deal?

please no tomich

hey mate, what do you mean no tomich. what do you think you are sitting on the fence? give me an idea, a clue otherwise you gonna walk the plank.

in fact you gonna walk the ledge above a chain of ponds infested by crocks. i'll have arf.

looking at a few weeks back on this forum, there was the COP The ledge for eleven and a half dollars. I am perplexed, bamboozled, and just about finished the Squitchy. Or it has finished me?

Fox creek SCM opened tonight.

First impressions are its not great, dumped it in the decanter to breathe and it opens up a bit. The cab sauv jumps out for me, the mint leaf is quite apparent. Not sure what it is but on the mouth it feels quite full, but it seems to clean the mouth at the same time...leaving it void of any residual flavour.

Won't be going back, but won't be a memorable Fo purchase.

I still think it's the Star Lane Merlot. Both previous vintages advertised at $55 RRP, with Tony Keys reviews.

Sorry, unsure about that. However, where on earth are they pulling the RRP from for some of those French and Italian wines? They seem simply made up as the wine isn't available in Australia from anyone else. The Bierzo piqued my interest but checked some reviews on CT and it's a no boom here.

Really? What makes you say it's that bad?

Had the Lindemans Pyrus 2012 tonight against the Fox Creek Fox and Hounds 2014, and whilst they are different blends, I find them both medium bodied, fine tannins, and quite smooth drinking. There's definitely a different flavour profile, and the Lindemans has more complexity, but I wouldn't say the F&H was bad by any stretch of the imagination...

Instant dislike. Finished the rest of the bottle tonight, although a little better .... can't be bothered waiting for el cheapo quaffers to improve.

This will be my 3rd and 4th return - not bad given I've only purchased around 40 dozen thru the FO.

Spot on GH! It's a keeper for me, just an easy drinker right now with no standout flavours (good or bad). The $30 retail is a bit far fetched though

The $30 retail really is a false economy, it was made for Vinomofo, so it would never have been sold at $30 a bottle.

The value of this wine is the price paid, there was no discount, as there was no market for it anywhere else. They could have said it was $400 retail reduced to $9...somewhat true, but a bit deceptive.

Yes.
And the 14.2% a/v is the clincher, most of the Star Lane reds are listed at 14.2%, a very specific and uncommon number.

I know we're talking VM here but I've been suckered in a few times with GWD's 'buy one get one free' offers and agree, being lumbered with 23-24 bottles of something barely passable is not doable in my book...Probaly glad I lingered with my finger on the trigger long enough to miss out on this one!
