Vinomofo Wine Deals

Has this wine been identified? I have had my best crack at attempting to determine it but so far unsuccessfully. A guess is Balnaves the Tally which scored 94 points from Halliday for the 2010 vintage and is from Coonawarra. I also found a Di Giorgio Cabernet Sauvignon that won a blue-gold medal but is nowhere near the $80 price point claimed.

EDIT: never mind, some very clever cookie had identified it as this wine https://vinomofo.com/wines/red-wine...s-coonawarra-cabernet-sauvignon-2010-b62665fa

And.. a sincere thank you to AC and WineNot for I believe a good influence in pinging 2012 Barossa Shiraz; $70 to $35.
I have added confidance with the experience of the winemaker plus I see a 24 month oak aging before bottling.

And what is it?

What a coincidence!
Just might be Handpicked Wines again with 2010 Signature Coonawarra Cab; was 79.99 on net before 'sold out'.

Most of the posts that you've referenced (except the Winemarket one which is out of place) are a response to someone asking "Is/was it a VM secret deal." It's not very practical if someone responds to his question in a different thread. I hardly think the link to nicks is OT since it's responding to this question.

Just my personal view, but let the moderators make these decisions instead of being pedantic and creating additional posts that are not adding value.

I have to agree, it's what happens when posts are viewed out of context, you don't have to drill very deep to get the gist of the thread...

So not a VM Deal? maybe not the right thread

Ok, you feel it is the correct thread - no problem ;)

I was in two minds in posting here (Winemarket part). But it's about Mitolo made wines "specifically made to order".
Remember the Cantiniere (for VM) and now Biscay Road for WM. That's the VM connection, see?

Is the Rosemount limited release 2013 Syrah named on VM the Balmoral or is it the other way round?
Did they make a Balmoral in 2013?
Or is this declassified Balmoral?
But how did it win 3 golds and under what name?
As you can see I am v confused on this one!

According to VM it is/was Balmoral but mislabelled. Sounded quite odd to me, especially given the different bottle shape.

Hmm, just tasted the F&H ... can see me sending back 23 bottles. Nasty!

Really? What makes you say it's that bad?

Had the Lindemans Pyrus 2012 tonight against the Fox Creek Fox and Hounds 2014, and whilst they are different blends, I find them both medium bodied, fine tannins, and quite smooth drinking. There's definitely a different flavour profile, and the Lindemans has more complexity, but I wouldn't say the F&H was bad by any stretch of the imagination...

It really is such an.underwhelming wine. Enough of that. Now I will meander and state with an overwhelming whine that it's very ordinary, and because of punters premature excitation, just like the stock market, when it under delivers , it gets slammed. This one unfortunately had moments of chance but failed at the ultimate line. In this case, pedigree did cough produce.

BUT there is hope after all.

Enjoyed two wines tonight after a tough couple of days. One, the perennial Fo favourite, Hewitsons Mad Hatter Shiraz 2013. The second, Epsilon Shiraz 2015. I cannot remember having a tasting of two wines side by side that provided such enjoyment, and such enlightenment.

Started with the Mad Hatter. It's classic Maccas. Deep ruby/plum, blackberries with a tinge of background oak. Surprisingly not overpowering. It is single vineyard(hello, hello let's charge more), ,and spent 18 months in new French oak. That costs money I know. The cooper must have gone easy on the roast as I reckon it's beautifully integrated. Chocolates in the mix, a signature Maccas trait. Body is good, about 8.I was impressed, but I know it is a nicely lauded wine. Tannins not too aggressive either.

So enthused.and finally happy with newbie _ squitchy is coming soon_ I grabbed a challenger. Second bottle of epsilon shiraz 2015. This time, I got an amazing raisin sweet flavour to go with the medium full palate. I reckon a 7.8 body, lovely. Easy to drink, not a tough step in both wines.

Then things got interesting. Back to the Mad Hatter and I could not believe the enhancement of flavours I experienced. Cherries by the punnet, much more perfumed background, it suddenly got even better. Hard to explain really, but wow. I am glad that this was a reasonably close race and although they cost me about the same, I could see the dearer one being better. Not by that much, but after my recent supposed sixty dollar valued plonks, this restored my faith. Sipping more of the Epsilon still enticed, but the enhancement of the.Mad Hatter was really unexpected.

No probs. Funnily enough, I got to taste the 2012 Shiraz once again somewhere else. Tried to be sneaky and get them to go cheaper than VM but ended up getting it for the same, $35 a bottle. Not having to worry about shipping was a plus though! Also tried the 2013 Handpicked Heathcote Shiraz. Scored 96pts from JH and was black and inky. I preferred the big oaky 2012 Barossa, although the Heathcote was pretty stunning too!

I feel for you. I was just re-reading my april notes for the FH shiraz and at least I can take heart that I have many left. contrast the following notes with what we both, and others tasted. Fortunately for some, they like it and good luck to them. But to you and I, our money will then be spent on other morsels. so the '13 shiraz - smooth, great ruby, deep plums, hints of oak, lingering with dry powdery tannins, beautifully integrated. be thankful for the returns policy.

I was looking at the beechworth merlot down from 55, which I assume is the starlane. I still have a six pack of the 2010 merlot, untried so wont be doing anything about it BUT I loved their shiraz in july. really classy wine.

of visiting the hospital very soon but was tempted by some wine glasses of all things. schott zwisel classic burgundy at danny m. 26 the pair. so will explore. have some already for whites and they are lovely. this time the buckets. so let's see what they are like. I need a little distracting at the moment.
