Vinomofo Wine Deals

After fruitlessly searching for a shiraz last night to go with my spag bol, I had to hit the boom button on this one. Your reviews sold me. (though I was thinking about the black market durif, but couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was, so decided to leave it).

Tried the Fox and Hounds Shiraz blend 2 night..
some say too thin..but the thing that stands out to me is that its got no length whatsoever ...not much smell either
i mean its OK... but boring...lol...i think mine is going back

The Hart of the Barossa....whilst not as full and punch as expected....it has some quality and would probably get better with age...

Haven't had the Fox+Hounds nor am I likely to after the lukewarm reviews it's garnered so can't comment.
The Hart I revisited last night having only cracked one from the dozen that landed a little while back. Whilst lacking some of the grunt VM banged on about (and Campbell Mattinson) it's certainly a very pleasant Friday night quaffer for the money and I'm not unhappy to have it in my cellar, I was trying last night to find the right adjective to sum it up and instead of approachable I came up with "cuddly". Sounds a bit naff I know, but it's so soft and rounded, nothing there to snag your cable-knit cardy on, I like it!

Looks like it.

Alcohol matches, tasting notes from the producer almost word for word.

Campbell Mattinson gave it 92 points, including the words "this is brilliant value".

A testimonial on the website 'about us' page says "I am constantly blown away by the quality of Austins & Co.".

The 2012 6 Foot 6 shiraz was the first wine I bought from VM back in May of last year, I've only got one bottle left but seem to recall it being very drinkable indeed! Certainly tempting to snap up a case from the 2013 vintage, having a look back over my ordering history realised I've ordered 21 cases of wine from the 'Fo since then, I've been ordering from a number of other on-line merchants during that time but I know for a fact that this probaly pales into insignificance compared to AC or Wozza's ordering habits! I hasten to add I'm not building a cellar, I'm a 'drink now' operative!

That's what convinced me to return mine - the lack of any finish. The rest was OK, but unremarkable but how the finish just dropped off a cliff was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Swapped for the Chain of Ponds Ledge 2013 - at least that has a JH96

Was $7.50 per bottle "back in the day" (actually not long ago) too :(

After returning home from the West Coast v Crows clash last night, I decided to finish off the Rosemount Little Berry GSM. I know a lot of people on here dont like it but I thought it was quite pleasant. It definitely was not as good the second night, so I would share or drink in one sitting in future. It followed a Chapel Hill Shiraz on Thursday night, which I thought was lacking in body and had quite a bitter finish, so the GSM sort of made my eyes pop with its big fruit driven flavour and long finish...really enjoyed it and would purchase again.

As far a purchasing history go's , maybe I have a problem.....13 cases this fortnight.....lol.....I can stop anytime I want too, as well :-).....that did include purchases at the Geoff Hardy Tractor Shed sale though.......which is only 10 minutes from home......bonus of living so close to McLaren Vale....I can go taste the secret deal wines once they have been revealed....so thank you to AC and all others who perform the sleuth role....

Have a great weekend :-)

Purchased about 5 cases and it was the RWT. Other bottles were Wolf Blass White Label Robe Mount Benson Shiraz Cabernet.

Did anyone try the Fox and Hounds over a few days? I found it better on the second day.

I tried it over 3 days, with and without food ... It was better after a couple of days and with food, but still not great. As others have said, it's thin, doesn't smell great and falls off a cliff.

this one is about getting rwt cheap. How do you rank the deal out of 10 folks for the other 6, and ultimately for the lot?

I bought one beefarmer. Only really value if you're chasing the RWT. The White Label is a solid wine and won't disappoint. I've drunk two and cellared the others. Got a 2005 RWT I'm toying with opening. I'd rate the deal an easy 8.

I couldn't possibly comment on the value proposition because RWT is way out of my price range. But for some raw data....

I got some of the Blass at $20/bottle in an eBay sale from Grey's. (At that price it is decent, not the best red I've had at that price point but a quality, medium bodied wine that is unlikely to disgrace you in any company - present company included. It improves with breathing and probably has decent cellaring potential.) If you wanted to buy some without waiting, you'd probably find it at $25 through one online retailer or another.

2013 RWT can be gotten for $152 in any six at Dan's.

So if we say $25/bottle for the Blass, we get $150 + $152 = $302 and the VM offer is $265. So it's probably competitive with the best you could find if you wanted to buy all 7 today, but if you waited, you might get a half dozen Blass at $120 instead of $150, and the RWT, well, I simply don't know.

It's a good drop, it's tempting me sorely but then there's the Gapsted Durif still on offer https://vinomofo.com/wines/red-wine/black-market-deal-durif-2015-aa913731 Is there anyone out there in FF land who can caution me against getting a case of this? I'm just unsure whether it has received much positive attention (but as a lover of big reds it has me nearly hooked....)
I can't speak to the 2015, but I bought a case of the 2014 earlier this year. Kept 6, with the other 6 split around the family.

I enjoy durif, and this is an enjoyable wine. Reasonably full bodied and fruit driven, and definitely opens up nicely after an hour or three, but it lacks that punch and depth that I usually look for in a straight durif. It's not a patch on their Ballerina Canopy Durif, but definitely a much better drop than a De Bortoli Vat 1, so I guess that makes it good value for the VM asking price.

I have 2 of them left, and plan to hang on to them for a few years to see how they go. From my very vague and inconsistent notes, I appear to have enjoyed the last bottle (just last week) much more than I did the first!

Had my six pack of the Handpicked Collection Tassie Pinot Noir delivered and cracked one last night. At just $30 a bottle from VM It didn't disappoint at all. Delicate with a gamey complexity and enough summer fruits to provide great balance. Enjoyed it more than the '13 Seppelt Drumborg Pinot noir hat I also bought recently as this wine is a bot more balanced. Would recommend this if it pops up again and may buy more myself.
