FYI Jeremy Oliver generally rates 2010 as being the best vintage for Maverick - scores for 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013:

Twins Cabernet Blend: 91, 82, NR, 87
Twins GSM: 92, 81, 87, 86
Twins Shiraz: 93, 85, 89, 87

After this careful summation I deduce this Jeremy fellow is one tough marker but I am not aware of his scoring profile. He could also be biased by price and mark such wines lower. Dunno, I need some others to research and comment about him and someone else with similar cred and see what they score. Now, where's that spread sheet gone AC ?

He's perhaps the toughest Australian wine critic, giving low scores to poorer vintages of Grange and Hill of Grace, which has caused him some trouble and controversy.

Consider him a false-negative reviewer: if he scores a wine well, then it's usually good, but some low-scoring ones can still be fine :)
 
I have had a few wines that JO rated well that I didn't like all that much and since then I haven't really taken his reviews too seriously. Maybe our palates don't align.

What I like about Jeremy Oliver's little annual wine book is that it contains the scores for the past 5+ vintages, so you don't need to buy the book every year unless you want the tasting notes.
I think someone posted a link to a PDF copy of his latest book a while back.

Hi folks - I'm new to this site, but finding the info quite useful (bought the III Assocs after reading reviews here and loved it!) so just wanted to say thanks to everyone, and also thanks for the link.

Yes, it can help to have a reviewer who has similar personal preferences as one's own, to avoid always having to read through tasting notes :)

How do you find his drinking windows?

Hmm, VM have Innocent Bystander Syrah 2015 on at the moment and are quoting the James Halliday score and review text for the previous vintage as though it were for this one. That's seriously dodgy.

(The Yarra Valley wine show score is correct. You'd think they'd be happy enough with that.)

Any recommendations at the moment? Is the Maverick cab a boom or Haselgrove a better buy? Wish the Maverick Shiraz was still active with free shipping this weekend. We've been enjoying the Mav Twins '13 GSM and Cab Blend this weekend. Think I actually prefer the GSM.

Also looks like iii Associates The Legacy is on its last run.. (marketing ploy?) I might have to bite the bullet and get some for the cellar.
 
I am in for the Brunello di Montalcino - have visited Montalcino, the wines from there are delicious - rare to see one at this price level and from an exceptional vintage
