Vinomofo Wine Deals

Has anyone any experience with any of these Shirvington Shiraz wines. This pack of back vintages has been up on VM for ages but they now seem to have reduced the price significantly. Including the $30 Amex credit this is now about $33 a bottle.

What do do we think readers?

Hit and miss for me.

I have had some GREAT Shirvington in the past and also some just OK ones.

The mixed pack does look to be fair value. But do note that the scores range from 90 to 98. So you may be paying more for the 98 and effectively have to 'suffer' the lower scored vintages.

2015 GSM and Cab Sav are on site today. Free shipping.

Tha cab sav is up again today at $9.90. When I went to buy i found I had a $25 referral credit, plus the Amex spend $60 get $30 makes it $70 so Boom! One thing I found interesting, they now do a click and collect which is $1.90 *on top* of the standard shipping charge. Unlike most other retails stores which allow you to skip shipping charges by collecting yourself.

The ParcelPoint option has been there for some time (12 months?). It's a third party service which makes its money by holding parcels for you - hence the extra charges. VM aren't avoiding any shipping fees via ParcelPoint hence it's not the cheaper option

Any reason to pay extra and collect?

It's not a 'click and collect'. Its an option to have it delivered to a particular location instead of your home/work.

This option has been available for more than a year.

Just boomed on the Hewitson 2012 Bashams Beach Temp. I see it has some mixed reviews on here but thought it worth a punt with the Amex credit taking it to $13.33 delivered.

Just a thought, what happens with Amex credits if you return a wine to VM after having tried one and they refund you five bottles worth so a different amount than what you paid. Do you lose the credit?

I'll be fascinated to hear your opinion on this one Warlock, you've probably already read my response to it but one man's meat and all that.....;)

One man's meat hey. I do hope that Warlock enjoys this Tempy more than you did WandD. Now , did someone previously mention Shirvington wines? I do believe going back in the day that the "matthew' was a fantastic favourite of my wifes and her friends. An especially tall example, my wife used to enjoy this one back in the day. She used to remark that it's bouquet was a tad sweaty, but it had a great body albeit a bit thin she used to say. Incredibly plummy were her comments with a very, very long finish.

If the refund to your AMEX matched the original purchase price the answer is yes.

I’ll keep you posted W&D. If I don’t like it, it will go straight back and I’ll keep my credit. Might then boom on the Shirvington instead.

By the sounds of things this Temp is better drunk in one sitting :-)

I'm always a tad hesitant in terms of influencing other member's attitudes when it comes to tasting a new wine, I guess because you then start looking for the faults someone else has described and it becomes a bit like a self-fulfilling prophecy! Having said that I've been grateful to have had the access to other's opinions before hitting the "boom" button on VM as it's probaly saved me time and money....(hopefully you will find the Tempy not just temporarily tantalising) cheers, W&D :)
