Vinomofo Wine Deals

So the Lagrein has passed it's day two test.
Sitting on a 30+degree Brisbane kitchen bench today knocked it about a tad, but the ( slightly sour ?? ) astringency that I admire in the variety lingers.
Happy to knock off the rest of the bottle…..

Has anyone tried the '16 Maverick Cab blend yet?

Sorry re delay jrod, been offline since Thur. 9/3, ADSL line fault............

We opened one of the 2016 Maverick Cab Blends a few days back, taste is similiar
to the 2013, we both enjoyed the 2016 wine, its a buy again for us.

I have a box of Allegience Reisling..
It's really just commercial white wine.. you could be drinking nz sav blanc…
Grumbled with myself about sending it back but my rules are that unless there is actually something wrong with it.. I live with my buying decisions

I also got a box of the 2012 Allegiance Riseling. Have made my way through most of it now and agree entirely. Pretty generic, but drinkable.

Opened a 2016 Maverick Twins Shiraz last night, quite average, borderline buy again
and not being a long term Cellar owner it will never see 5 years to compare improvement.

Just lacked any real oomph to tickle the taste buds.

For those of you with a taste for Hunter Valley Semillon, todays VIM is the 2009 Brokenwood Maxwell Vineyard Semillon. Not a bad drop by all accounts. It should be quite drinkable now but it will reward anyone with the patience to put it away for another decade or so. It's a boom for me.

Sold out now. I contacted my broker who has offered the Oakley Creek Vineyard instead. Same price. Anyone got an opinion on the Oakley Creek? Worth giving it a shot or better off saving my $$$?

What year? VIM offered the 2013 Oakey Creek last year, which was $15 a bottle. It got 95 from Halliday and was pretty good - I had one and am leaving the rest to get some more years on them

Cheers Poochio - 2009, same as the Maxwell and same price.

Any thoughts on the greedy sheep cab? Would love to have more Margaret river in my collection. Thanks.

Ordered a dozen of the Lagrein in some kind of post-work dazed state prior to reading this and I'm wondering if I can interpret your findings correctly tgh? I've never had the varietal before and I did some quick research and boomed away as the free shipping deadline was looming (I realise they offer this every other day but they caught me in a weak moment!) Have you got any other thoughts on the Lagrein positive or otherwise tgh? cheers, W&D

It's yet another VM offering that has piqued my interest, most reviews of previous vintages seem quite positive....

I have little faith in my capacity to judge wine objectively , I like it or I do not and sadly , that's the extent of any cerebral linkage.

I like it .

Someone else who seems to like plonk that I like and seems to make some interesting calls is this bloke :

The Vinsomniac - Stuart Robinson: Search results for lagrein

mrs prozac got a VM call last week and they sold her a cheap Labise Pinot Gris which they said was $22 cellar door. Turns out the cellar door price atm is $99/6. Not happy about the misrepresentation. :(

$22/bottle on the website, so technically they are correct. As always - research, even if cold called.
