Vinomofo Wine Deals

No, I didn't plump for that one in the end as I didn't like the sound of the reviews I read.
I enjoyed it (though it's defo not a trad coonawarra cab sav), particularly for the price, but if you look back on this forum others didn't love it so much. See the posts around 30 March...

Was $12 delivered after discounts/credit. Woop!

Interesting viewing tonight when looking at reviews for a discounted Vivino wine… I know this topic has been discussed previously in the context of high ratings from vinomofo employees. 72 fake accounts is quite staggering!

Hmmm, not good. I had a quick look at the website for Byrne and Calcannia and nearly needed some heart surgery when I saw Thomson Estate listed.... i'd misread tho as one of my favourite wineries is Thompson Estate and Thomson Estate is very different. But mind you the latter seems to have a rating of 4.9 from 1200 'reviews'

There were 1792 Thomson ratings avg 4.0 when I checked this morning, but only 3 of them are listed on the site. There is also a brand in the stable called "Flavabom". I don't think I'm in the target market for those wines :)

Wow, just seems dodgy. I took a screenshot yesterday as it seemed so strange, amazing that the reviews had changed so much when you looked

If they have removed 75, there seem to be quite a few still remaining. A quick scan of the top raters shows not only are they praising the wines in the stable, they are downrating other brands as well (eg giving Penfolds a 1 star review)

There is a 91pt review by JH on Wine Companion, but it doesn't actually say anything much about the wine itself. Probably a "destined for China wine. Lot of Vineyard Road wines on Dan Murphy Marketplace. https://www.danmurphys.com.au/produ...yard-road-the-edge-barossa-valley-shiraz-2017

Thank you, it doesn't sound too exciting!

I think I'll stick to the Pirramimma Heritage Limited Edition Shiraz - IMHO best value for money on VM for Australian shiraz atm.

Pinot Noir 2018 – Black Market Deal #41407 - Goona Warra Chairman’s Reward Pinot. Anyone familiar with it?
I ended up booming on this one. I think perfumed is a good description. With 4 years under its belt there’s some depth, it is not an earthy, light pinot like you’d see from the mornington peninsula - more fruit, but was worth the punt.

Bought a six pack, it's a Pinot for someone who'd rather be drinking a big Coonawarra Shiraz. For me it's too big and lacks the subtilty and complexity I'd expect from a Pinot. Interesting though.
snap!

Fully agree - to the point I have ordered another case. Says it can be cellared until 2036 - don't think its going to last that long and it gives me the impression of a drink now rather than better with age.
I can't believe that what I opened last Friday night is the same wine as you guys are raving about. My bottle was musty and rather flat tasting - something wrong with it or my taste buds? I suspect not the latter as the bottle of Massena Eleventh Hour that we opened after that was wonderful - exactly my kind of shiraz. Anyone else had sub-par impressions of the Pirramimma Heritage?
