The Mclaren Vale Associates Grenache wasn't my cup of tea... not as full as other MV grenaches that I've enjoyed, and a minerally almost metallic aftertaste. Drinkable, but I'm not keen to struggle through 11 more... so back they go!

Greatly appreciate your comments BMan. I was going to order this this morning as a replacement credit but after your less than flattering critique, I will give it a miss. A bit of a shame, but the lack of strength in the body is certainly one of my key hates.

While not addressed to me, I've been exploring grenache (both single varietal and blends) the last couple of years and my two faves (one VM, one winemarket) have been Yalumba Anderson Vine Vale Grenache 2008 and Maverick Ahrens Creek Grenache 2012. Both Barossa, the former for its delicate nose and pinot-esque body, the latter as it's as big as a shiraz but so supple, with an incredible finish. I've also really enjoyed Kay Bros Amery Grenache, and the grenache I dream about is Torbreck Les Amis. I'm not quite as enamoured of McLaren Vale grenache but am always looking for suggestions/recommendations!

Agree on the Kay Bros, its a lovely Grenache.

I was talking about the durif that went on for approx $11 today from alpine valley. Vedder50 indicated that it was Gapsted.
I was apologising as if you scrolled down on the ad it said Gapsted in my haste I didn't read it. I have had it before and it has been good but Durif is not for most people and I don't know many people that like it that haven't spent time camping or other in the Rutherglen area.
again sorry it has been a busy day and looking at wine while working is bound to end in tears.

I bought some Samuels Gorge a couple of years ago that still stands out as the best Grenache I've ever had... around the same retail as the MVA so I had high expectations. Would love to see them make an appearance on the Fo

Cracked a 2010 Tahbilk Marsanne last night from the Fo vertical (though see also the winery's club). Fantastic - just starting to show the extraordinary complexity of the variety. Will still improve for years. Which brings me to jumping in for the Gewurztraminer (thanks AC). The exercise in calibrating the taste buds for anticipated phenolics (not as bad as it sounds) worked a treat.

Though unable to goad myself over the line for anything new or repeated. Are the Rock Ferry Pinots no good? They've been around for ages!

I bought 2 cases of the Rock Ferry Cawtes Pinot (Wines Direct?) and find them very good. a 95pts from Huon Hooke and at $16 a bottle a ruddy bargain! Haven't tried any of the others featured at the Fo unfortunately.

Hi one and all, I'm a newbie to this forum having only just discovered it searching around for the dirt on some of Vinomofo's deals yesterday! I've been buying wine on-line for quite a few years and like most of you have had my share of ahem, "regrettable purchases", have dealt with Winebox Warehouse, GWD, Cloudwine, Glug, Winemarket, Nick's, Starwine et al and most recently Vinomofo in the last year or two. My most recent purchase, the Black market 2014 GSM aka Rosemount Little Berries GSM was, to be honest, another average wine having been touted as something pretty extraordinary on the 'Fo. Anyway, sorry to butt in on the thread, I just wanted to break the ice and join the throng....
