True enough my friend, it would be great to hear some feedback once the eagle has landed so to speak...(although it IS Capel Vale , not Eagle Vale )
Solid $20-$25 pinot. A bit like Yarra pinot. Mrs McXimenez reckons it's a bargain. Decent weeknight staple for the pinot drinker.Señor McXiménez, (w.r.t Waipara pinot) do let us know if it's any good.
Cheers!
2006 McLaren Vale Shiraz in vino mof_ today. Anyone have any idea what wine it is?
Well I give up, I've tried every trick under the sun to establish the identity of https://vinomofo.com/wines/red-wine/black-market-deal-durif-2015-74073f3d to no avail, you may well question why I'm interested in a 2015 Durif without any show pedigree or ratings but that's the kind of guy I am....any clue anyone?
I recall doing some homework earlier in the year on it, and the signs pointed to 'no deal.' Seemed like the 2013 was great value while the 2014 - not so much.
Thanks V50, I had already edited my post to indicate the Gasped as a possible contender when I read your post, can't see how it can be anything else to be honest, haven't seen much discussion one way or the other, probably not a brilliant bet...
Good points indeed, I had an unpleasant experience a few years back with Winestar and swore I'd never darken their cellar door again but that offer is certainly damned tempting! If you are really keen to add a Cab Sav perhaps this might be a good alternative.
Mystery Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 – Winestar 05 08 2016 | Tasting Sessions
My current approach is do I NEED it or am I desperate enough. There are so many wines out there. Seems to be an awful lot of wines that are specially made for this "market" which may never get off the shelf if it was marketed through traditional means ie a shop.
Gapsted's on-line presence is fairly threadbare really and I find it hard to commit with so little background detail but again, very tempting...When it was originally listed, they had an "about the producer" section on the page which named Gapsted as the producer. Again, not conclusive if they make their pages by just starting out with a copy of previous one, but hmmm.

Gone in head first. Who cares - it's only a tenner!
Bought the Capel Vale cab sav and shiraz when they first came out. The shiraz is much better value - it's elegant, and gains complexity with airing. The cab sav is good enough for $10, inoffensive if boring drinking. But for a VM $10 you could get the better Mavericks, Pertaringas, Jacks and Jeannerets. Or you could use those accumulated $10 here and there for a nicely aged flagship cab sav

I've had a couple of those... didn't take a fancy to Jeannerets and sent 10 back.
Had the Petaringa and the Jack (sounds like I should go to a clinic) and really liked both of them AND the smart thing to do would be to buy something familiar that is a known quantity but.... I probably should have clicked on the Epsilon Temp last night but dithered and now it's gone, never mind they all usually come around the block again with VM. Oh and I bought a dozen of the Capel Vale Shiraz first time around and thought it was really quite drinkable, would happily throw a few more in the cellar/woodshed!
Thanks for the heads-up gh, I haven't been dealing with VM long enough to know their business practices intimately. I'm actually v. interested in Beefarmer's take on the Temp as he's already in possession of the stuff, he can be our test-pilot!
regarding the Epsilon tempranillo - Buy some , and I will post a review in the nice wines thread suffice to say the most apt word for the wine is elegant. Thanks for the heads-up gh, I haven't been dealing with VM long enough to know their business practices intimately.
