Vinomofo Wine Deals

Sometimes blends can be done if the winemaker thinks it lacks in a certain area, and creating a blend will add to the wine. Never know, but maybe they decided this cab vintage has the goods to stand on its own. Pure speculation, but only one way to find out...

That was my thought also. Based on the quality of the 2015 shiraz I suspect you may be right on the money. I can't wait for my cabs to arrive some can test the theory.

I might have missed it, but does anyone have a review on how the iii Associates stacks up against squid ink?
I thought the 2013 Squid Ink had too much sweetness and oak for me. But this did settle over 2 to 3 days (I didn't buy it via a good offer from crackka and regret a bit). However I thought the Legacy was more balanced and complex with length and purity; a stunner.
I hope I' m on the right track

Is this a first for Vinomofo? I have not encountered any price reduction before except free shipment.
Can you get VM to refund the difference. I know some websites that advertise of refunding if prices are lowered elsewhere.
In your case it's not even delivered. Just cancelled/return and order at current price. :D

They did it most recently with Blue Poles Allouran (due to lower price elsewhere), with other examples including Seppelt Chalambar, Helen & Joey Alena, and of course, Thousand Candles.

Yes, they can/do refund the difference :)

Thanks! Sounds promising.

Also sounds like the Billich and Twins Shiraz are the current recommendations from members here.

So I cracked open a bottle of the Maverick cab sav last night with a mate of mine. Much bigger more punchy wine than the cab blend which I found a bit more refined. Tasted quite high in alcohol too. Bit different to what I was expecting but we both did however like it. I won't be sending it back. Just for good measure we also opened a bottle of the GSM. Think my memories of it were tainted by the first bottle and all I can report on it today is that it gives a great hangover.

I can confirm that the 2015 Maverick Twins Cabernet is available via phone order. However, my broker told me that there was a mix up with the original inventory details and apparently the 2015 is a straight cabernet, not a blend. I didn't even know that Maverick produced a straight twins cabernet. I suspect there may be a mixup somewhere. I have ordered regardless and the order says it is a straight cabernet. It will be interesting to see what actually turns up.

Was it the same price as the Twins GSM?

A little cheaper at $10.90 a bottle.

The Twins Cabernet has just hit the site. It looks like the bean counters were busy overnight and inflated the listed price to the new $11.50 mark. Still good value if it's anywhere near the shiraz in quality.

Ah Delectable, you got me with your Twins 2015 Shiraz review even though I had planned on not buying any more wine for some time. I have the Twins 2012/2014 GSMs which are both lovely wines, but the the pick of the bunch is the 2013 Cab blend - absolutely delicious.

Recently grabbed a 6pack of 2010 Cab blend from CM for $12ea and the first bottle was a little disappointing given our previous wonderful experiences with the above Twins wines. My wife and I both thought that it was a little too "sweet" for our palettes. Will try another in the next few days.

I saw that too, but Halliday gave it an 88 (the tasting note talks about "sweet fruit and fruitcake spice") so gave it a miss.

I hope the shiraz isn't too sweet for you. It's not what I would call a fruit bomb or overly jammy, but the fruit flavours are quite vibrant and intense, which gives it a distinctly sweetish feel. I imaging it will be a few years until those flavours start to lose their sweetening impact.

Just picked up my 2 more cases of the '13 cab blend this morning, and suspect my 2nd order of another case of the '13 cab blend + '13 GSM shall be ready tomorrow. Combined with a bunch of other recent ordering, I'm on n self-imposed ordering hiatus until further notice.

Yeah I have 3 '13 Cab blends and a '13 GSM on the way courtesy of CM.....but might have to add a '15 Shiraz now also :)

Picking up my 13 Cab blend after work today; might need to try a bottle with dinner. As much as the VM offers are tempting, that was a little break in my wine-buying ban that is now back in force...

Got home last night to be greeted by Pertaringa Regional Series Adelaide Hills Gruner Veltliner 2016. Fabulous! So refreshing & lots of flavour. All gone but keep an eye out :D

Oh wow - you're not kidding!

PRODUCER: HASELGROVE Haselgrove are one of the wines I can remember Dad stocking when I was a whippersnapper, one of the names that is reminiscent to me not of flavour but of warm, fireside dinners and a happy upbringing. It’s taken this wine to remind me that I haven’t seen any in his cellar for a while though, and this has me wondering why. A quick trawl online will reveal that Haselgrove started to become lost in the sea of good wine and misdirected sales intentions, until 2008 when four Italian-Australians came to its rescue. Thus began a renaissance for Haselgrove. With over 100 years of history, Haselgrove is a name synonymous with the Australian winemaking industry. Spearheaded by exciting Senior Winemaker Greg Clack since 2003, Haselgrove have really hit their straps of late, with the vision of the new owners and the freedom given to Greg. The refreshed focus is on freshness of wine, and multi-regionality is a new feather in their cap. This more holistic and far-seeing approach is starting to pay big dividends in wine quality.
