I cant find the 95 for the 2009, but the 2010 received 96 by both HH and JH, did HH review the 2009 twice?

More likely just shows how little value people should put into the scores given by wine commentators. There can be so many factors, including bottle variation etc.

Todays black market 2015 yarra valley chardonnay looks like it is the Tawarra Estate. At $11 a bottle it's a bargain!

I got around to giving this one a fair hearing last night. The first bottle (opened a couple of weeks ago, shortly after arriving here) was a little disappointing, just lacking in fruit - the two domestic judges were on the fence. The Halliday review expressed concerns about the fruit matching the tannins and this was our issue with this bottle.

Last night we decanted the bottle before tasting thinking that the breathing would help the wine open up a bit and it did - a MUCH better wine on this occasion and a steal at $11. Definitely no temptation to return the remaining 10 bottles now.

Pretty impressed with VM this week, ordered Tuesday and the wine was delivered first thing Wednesday.

I completely agree. When we first opened it I wondered what all the fuss was about. I found it very dry and lacking in fruit. Left it in the bottle for another day and the second glass was definately better. Still not sure about this one though....

Definitely not wrong the shiraz was at best only worth $20. I would not be surprised if the Grenache was in the same boat.. Cheers Rug

I ended up getting this Grenache, cracked one over Xmas period - was pretty good, not $100 good but still nice. Would happily pay $40 for it - so $18 was a good buy.

I believe that the Hunter Semillon is Mount Pleasant Eight Acres.
A very nice wine but a nice price increase too. It was $13.50 when I bought 3 cases in May 2017. And I only have 6 bottles left ):

I sent the Giesen Clayvin Pinot Noir back, partly because it didn't quite live up to the hype for me at that price, I actually preferred the cheaper Tarras The Canyon 2014 and ordered another 6 of that.
The other reason relates to errors and exaggeration (from one of the emails exchanged with VM):

"For this wine, Giesen Single Vineyard Clayvin Pinot Noir 2013:
You got the a/v wrong and the claimed $90 price seems to be a fiction as it was listed at the winery for $60 NZD and is available from the Aus importer Robert Oatley for $47.50 AUD with a RRP of $65 AUD.
So at your claimed 50% off it should be around $32.50 rather than $45..."

A number of Geisen wines are available on the Sippery site.

VM claimed they imported this direct and were told by the winery that the RRP in Aus should be $90. Maybe they got ripped off...
