Look forward to your assessment. So far enjoyed Matrix and ACJ which were recommended on here (and I am going to try and keep the remaining bottles), and the Ironstone Grenache and GSM have been hits

The box of Greenstone Copper Block Shiraz arrived. The bottle is quite chunky and heavy true to VM description, sadly the wine is not. I just opened a bottle to try and am a bit disappointed. It it thin and overly acidic and short to medium finish. Tannins quickly dissipated leaving me with a feeling of drinking a sour grape juice. It is definitely not to the standard I would expect from Heathcote and certainly not even remotely measure up to the excellent Tatiarra Cambrian Shiraz which is a big ask but still... Will leave it and will re-try it again tonight but cannot see how it could improve.

2018 was just recently released, so you'll have plenty of time to grab it.

Barolo’s seem to certainly be in favor right now. Is it just me or is there an exceptional amount of hype? Im keen to try and explore but the price is often off putting...I also noticed that from the descriptions some of them are light, medium as well as full bodied. Am I missing out on the best thing since sliced bread?

Most imported wine tends to be overpriced for the quality relative to what we can get domestically. You are paying for the opportunity to try a different "terrior"

Good Barolo is good but expensive. It's expensive enough in Italy and here the tax is an added killer.
Cheap Barolo is generally cheap for a reason.

My Italian wine importer friend said there are 3 wines he doesn't know. to the price, they are low in Aus market. But one point he spots out is that they are too young to drink.

It's possible VM could disable the method used to determine the real product names then we would be back to guessing based on reviewer's comments

That means we need to get a balance on how much we spread out.

I see there are a couple of 2014's in the Barolo case. 2014 was a very poor year for Piedmont (and worse for Tuscany). 2013 & 2016 were 8/10 years. I wouldn't go near that deal just because it includes 2 x 2014's which to me indicates the VM MO. Quality not reflective of RRP. They may well be good wines but 2014's are a quality risk.

Barolo can age a long time.
Most these are rated on Vivino, but as someone else mentioned it's just an opportunity to try international wines at close to their market price in Europe.

Good Barolos are $100-200, and yes local wines are going to be much better quality at $50. I mean we get amazing wines at $90-110 here.
