Vinomofo Wine Deals

My mortgage broker said in his monthly email that it's only those with housing issues that are feeling "the economy". The rest, a much larger chunk of the population, are "blissfully employed and going about life". There's been some good buying recently so long may that continue in these tough times.
I do not know which planet your mortgage broker lives on but all the news services say its the majority of the population feeling the effects of the economy especially the cost of living on top of mortgages, check the polls as well and refinancing. This will add to many good deals to come, more so as they now say no interest rate cuts for at least six months. I look forward to genuine good deals.

Only thing that appears in crisis is rental housing and that's because of massive immigration. Anytime the news has a story about the cost of living crisis, it's a renter being interviewed. No rate cuts are imminent and now even talking about an increase later this year. No pressure on anyone but supermarkets to bring down prices to pre-covid levels. Restaurants, airports and airplanes are reasonable indicators of how things are going I reckon, and all that I've been to recently have been chockers. I think the good deals re wine are coming about due to overseas markets/economies rather than here.

The ASX is subject to many variables including geopolitical to be relevant, think bots and traders. You also clearly do not live in Victoria, the most over taxed state with people and industry leaving in droves. You also don't mention all the construction companies going bust. You also must have a well paid job by the sound of it, hopefully not a politician. Yes bring on the wine deals.

Just wait until the new land tax and stamp duties kick in. Every adult Victorian has an extra $20k in govt debt since 2019 and that will double in the next 2 years. The pain is yet to come…

It already has kicked in. My Land tax bill for my IP in Rosanna Vic has pretty much doubled. SRO reckons the CIV is up 60% since 2020, including a 18% drop this year, which of course bumps me up the sliding tax scale to their benefit. The notice this year says it's increased due to the "COVID Debt Repayment Plan". I'm still buying wine - I do curse the day I found this thread - so can't be too bad I guess.

Just wondering what are the good Sav Blancs to look out for on Vinomofo? Any real winners that crop up every now and then? Need to stock up on white.

What about Pinot Gris, SSB, Chardonnay, Semillon, Pinot Grigio?
Yup, lots of semillon, some chardonnay, prefer lean tight styles and very occasional lean tight SSB. Usually the latter verge too tropical fruity and I'd rather drink bilge water :D:D:D
 
I do enjoy Chardonnay for as long as I remember. Never really warmed up to Semillion. Used to like WA SSB but have moved on. Indifferent to Pinot Gris and Grigio. But overall 90% of my wine consumption are reds.
Never warmed to Semillon? Man, you need to get out there! A 8-10 yo sem from a good winery is amazeballs.

I have to agree with Bill here. I am finding more and more that I enjoy aged white wines quite a bit more than fresh ones. The 04 Wandoo Sem from the recent sale was pretty good, I didnt think much of the 06 though. The 2016 Riesling and the 2014 Marble Hill Chard were worth tasting also.

Have to say that I have enjoyed the 06 semillon very much, plenty of development but still tight acidity. I didn't get the 04 so don't know how that's going. I've also enjoyed the 2012 riesling and 2013 Blackbutt from these guys, but then it's a winery I know well and I may therefore have a bias 😄 😉
