Virgin 50000 points and 100 SCs Gold, 200SC for Plat(targetted & 7.5K spend)

Just redeemed for a VS upper class HKG - SYD yesterday - 57,800 points - which is funnily enough almost exactly the 50k + 7.5k spend involved in this promo! Not bad for $99!

Didn't even have to wait for it.

It took me longer to get the first statement which took 3 months..

For the 30,000 points/ 75 SC offer (Silver) the spend within 3 month is just $500.

when I applied for this I was gold now Im plat will the scs end up as 100 or 200??
they havent posted nor has the 50k

Booked using one of the 4 comp flights that comes with the card this week and was pleasantly surprised to be charged the web fare without any additional contact centre fee.

The flight was months out so no worries with availability but looking at some closer in bookings now. For ease of planning before calling does anyone know if the free seat books into the velocity redemption bucket so if I see that available it should be ok. Or is it that if there are 2 seats available at the same fare class that the free seat can be booked?

Are you talking about the Velocity AMEX promotion which is completely different to what this one was?

My +1s 50000 points and 200SCs have posted, and were immediately pooled to my account:mrgreen:. Just need to get my own 7.5K spend up....finally, some reward after all the hard work!

Second statement received today and have passed the spending requirements for the 50K points and 200 SC however nothing showing up online.
Called Manila and advised that yes I have met the requirements but the bonuses and SC won't be posted until the 3 month period after activation has passed. For me this will be May 10th.
From what I can see posted here others have had the points/SC as soon as they met requirements.
Should I call back and ask again
or sweat it out until May?
I'm thinking the former option sounds better

I was told the same thing, on two occasions. Persisted and did eventually break through the barriers and points were posted.
I do have a contact who has responded brilliantly to email, so if your next phone call does not work, PM me and I will pass on the email contact details that have worked for me.

Rang Virgin today to be told that yes I do qualify for the 50K bonus (she checked that I had made the 7.5 K spend) but the Ts and Cs state that it can take up to 60 days from the activity that took me passed the 7.5k spend for the bonus to post....so I have to wait til June 10, and the statement that covers this period, so it may be early July before I see the 50K bonus pts; this is really starting to pi$$ me off...may get that email off you pagingjoan:idea:

I completed my spend early feb and am still waiting for SCs and the 50k. i was told the same it will arrive in JUNE rediculous!

Got my 100 SC and 50,000 points today. Whoo. My original application was put in late December, just got my 3rd statement. Didn't have to call to get them, they just appeared.

Impressed, 50,000 points is approx a return PER-MEL plus a 1 Way MEL-SYD. Approx $500 value. Might have to do a "Lounge Run" via ADL.

I have to say: So far I'm pretty impressed with the customer service from Virgin Money. I had hesitations in the beginning even applying for the card, however so far everything was pleasant.

I'm travelling a lot right now, card has not been declined a single time -> HSBC and AMEX always do that even if you call ahead and it's a huge PITA.

Then I disputed the charges of the Czech Airlines Error Fare because after 2 months they still havent refunded me. Done in 8 Minutes, Form was in the mail to sign and return. Easy!

Got a call yesterday and a chap (Australian) wanted to sell me credit protection, declined politely and he said goodbye. Friendly and not pushy.

Card gets 95 / 100 for me so far, great initial promo, reasonable ongoing points, but annoying odd things like the inability to change the ATM Pin and only reasonable card center customer service.....

I got my 200 SC's within like a few days of getting my card, when I only applied a week or two ago. I signed up for the 30K points 200SC's via email.

Just dug out my old paperwork and managed to get into my online account ... did anyone notice that the yearly fee on the cheap card has gone up from $99 to $129?? Probably still worth it for the 4 x 2 for 1 flights, but slightly annoying. And I've had no notification from them about the increase ...

I've just had my card reissued with the Paywave features. Surprisingly painless process!

I did get a notification about the fee increases somewhere along the way. Not sure where, maybe on a statement.

Yeah just went back through my statements (they are all zero dollar statements ...) and found a notification a couple of months back. Time to decide if it is worth the $129 fee ...
